First heard about the Pinoydiophiles forum back in 2003 thru a nice guy named Derwin Lim. I wonder where that guy is....

I was looking for a starter hi-fi system. My friend told me to take a look at wired state for good used stereophile eqpt. That was 5 years ago.

How time flies :) I didn't notice that Wiredstate is already 10 years old: The very first WS post back in January, 2003:

I was in audio hibernation then and was with Arnold and Keith in the Philippine Sony Ericsson Users Group in esato. Arnold got into audio and pointed me to pinoydiophiles and the bug caught. I met Racio, Hansen, Russell, Rajan, Micob, VD, Toobs, BenC, Edrich, Mickey, JM, Ike, and the rest of the gang there. Also bumped into a fellow Cebuanos Ferdie & James (ichabod) who I later discovered was my neighbor in Cebu.

Here are some old eb photos from the pinoydiophiles days:

Nice set Grant :) As I recall, the later pics were from the Tube 101 session :)

BTW, BenC's locks got shortened and straigthened out over all these years :D :D :D :D

I'll try looking for those old pics as well :)

Wow, I need to show the pictures to Ike.
Makapal pa ang buhok at maliit pa ang mga tummy natin :-)
Nice memories!

I remember the first amp the group built after Prof. JM's Tube 101 lecture. It was a VT52 tube-based amp. On its initial power on ... the room brightened up! ... It looked good but then, someone commented ang liwanag ng tubo! :o ... Prof JM realized then ... 15 volts pala ung nakakabit sa filament ng VT52! :@ ... The bright glow lasted a few minutes and then the tube bade us all farewell ... :(

The VT52 was literally like an incandescent bulb.
It was a very expensive error.
But, it proves how robust the tube even with the high filament voltage.
