Yes sir, it will run using external HDD but you will have full control using the computer via the PC DAC. it will bypass your sound card and play directly thru Cayin MT-iP40 :)

Cheers

Will the new DACs trump the Krell DAC of a KPS30i? Am thinking of getting the Krell CDP being sold by BLued or getting a new DAC instead.

Para may CDP pa rin sana.

Depends on how old that CDP is. Kung more than 10 years old, I'm willing to bet it can be beaten by a DAC in the class of a Rega DAC or a Musical Fidelity DAC. Just get the Krell and use it as a transport, kung may digital out.

Why not try digitizing your file and streaming it? There is a growing consensus that lossless files streamed to a DAC sound better vs the conventional CD playback. I'm a recent convert, and I'm in the process of ripping my CD collection into Apple Lossless and storing my CD collection. I only have a DVD player now, which barely sees a CD.

I have not compared to cd playback since my tube player passed away but I have been on Lossless format for years now. The latest addition is Amarra 2.2 player for my MacBook Air 11.6". It also does flac. My cds are now just backups.

Check your PM Dante. I'm offering a good option. Have you heard of DACMAGIC from Cambridge Audio?

to the guys who own the squeezebox, how fast does it read the files and music on a ISB drive connected via USB? I have a reader but sadly its kinda slow the way it reads music from the HD connected via USB so i'm looking for an alternative and i want to see if the squeezebox is any better.

Logitech just killed the Squeezebox Touch?

Bad news for SB Touch users, based on this post on another forum:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthrea ... rmation%29

Basically unofficial confirmation that SB as we know it is dead.

The new units will behave similarly, but won't work with existing SB units. The server software is going into the cloud, and so features that are local server dependent, like the random play function, are being eliminated. Likewise no synching between old SB units and new ones.
