Somebody is offering me a good condition SL3300 without cartridge for 2K.

Would this be a good starter turntable?

Thanks.

I'll get this over a Goldring at the same price.

Thanks ArnoldC.

I need to audition this turntable and I need to get a cartridge. I don't want to splurge on a cartridge (tried to borrow from my friends, but the two friends I have who is into vinyls does not have spares).

What brand and model should I buy? Something decent enough for me to evaluate the TT, and will not dent my wallet.

You can borrow my Audio Technica CN5625AL or Clearaudio Aurum Alpha.

They are both happy at 2g tracking force. The Clearaudio would like a deadlock in anti-skate.

Send a messenger.

If you wish to buy, the Shure M44-7 is about 2K I believe (from Audiophile).

Ok thanks. Will PM or text you, and thank you very much for your offer.

BTW, are the Stantons any good?

While I don't have experience with them, they don't get my interest because they're for DJ use (I'm not generalizing ok, the M44-7 is also for DJ use) and you'd rather get something useful for "normal" use.

Thanks for the offer, I decided to get a "cheapie" Shure M92E, I am too scared to mount somebody else's cartridge on a turntable, accidents do happen. Last year, I broke an Ortofon when I accidentally stepped on it (I did not know it fell on the floor).

Thanks for the generous offer!
