Akihabara in Tokyo is always a good place to explore. Bring a Japanese friend as everything is in Japanese.
For a more tourist-friendly shopping experience - try the electronics supermalls across the busy Shinjuku main train station. Bic Camera and the like provide entire floors for hifi.
Its best to ask the locals where they buy their stuff, but Japan is horribly expensive so good luck. Still, it doesn't matter. Its a joy to explore Tokyo's electronics havens even without buying. :D

8) June, please ask your Japanese counterparts where these items are available. As stated you can start with Akihabara, this is a real big electronics community you just need to figure out where the audiophiles items are located. I wish you a good trip and good audio hunting.... :D :D

Ang maganda lang sa Japan, at least naka-balandra agad in bold letters ang presyo. Di mo na kelangan bumulong ng magkano kada item sa salesclerk. They speak no Engrish. Just bring arong your carcurator

Surprisingly prices are not too far off from the U.S. , especially when you factor in that there is a 5% discount for tourists (VAT exemption) and the little known fact that (at least in Akihabara) puwedeng tumawad and they can around 10% off.
