To the boxing purists, Rigo is a brilliant fighter. To those fans who love "blood and guts" in boxing, Rigo is a let down. The fact is He's not like Floyd Mayweather Jr. that doesn't need selling. Floyd right now is the face of boxing though boxing fans don't even budge in their sits whenever they watch him in a monotonic action. Unlike Rigo, Floyd in his younger days of fighting like where Rigo is now, was a very exciting technical fighter. Sugar Ray Leonard was a very technical fighter. So was Pernell Whitaker and Willy Pep. But their boxing's terchnical finesse and fluidity elicited excitement and uproar from the viewers be they casual or hardcore fans.

Martinez vs Cotto

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Fri Jun 06, 2014 10:30 pm

Martinez, the Argentinian cyclist who became a brilliant world boxing champion will be fighting tom in Madison Square Garden, New York against Cotto,

Many believed Cotto was done after the Margarito fight because of that loaded hollow blocks in his gloves.
But boxing aficionados was convinced Cotto was never the same after the Pacquiao fight.

Tomorrow, saturday @ the famous MSG- Cotto will showcase his performance that he's done yet in the business after he seek to trained & learned w/ Roach.

Martinez is old but still has a good reflexes w/ a good footwork even he's a slow starter. but his biggest fear & problem was his injured leg. If his leg wont deny
him tomorrow night, the rejuvenated Cotto dont have a chance.

Cotto's chances are,.. his signature left hook to the liver,.. if Marabella will take his break in between rounds after the 7th- Miguel might caught him by the ropes.
Miguel should start fast to keep Martinez off balance & also due to ring rust, because Martinez is good in a game closing/ending rounds & could steal some points.

On the undercard, Sonsona is very lucky to hav this great opportunity- fighting in MSG & a rematch w/ Vasquez Jr.
He should look good in this fight or its a must win for him,..if not TRank will hav a hard time bidding/selling his fight

I have a feeling Martinez is a shot fighter. He could be dangerous in the early rounds giving Cotto hell. Cotto's hands will be more than full in early to mid rounds. By 8th, Maravilla will start to move slow and show signs of fatigue. More so, signs of wear and tear will be evident as a fighter who's been through many wars. By 10th he'll be gassing out on account of Cotto's sustained attack. Cotto can go 12 rounds easily. We might see Cotto finishing Maravilla off from 10 to 12 round. A bloodied-faced Cotto will be the new Middleweight champion.

Boy was I so wrong in my prediction. As it turned out, Cotto dominated Martinez completely. From the first round till Maravilla quit on his stool going into tenth round. That first round was life and death for Maravilla with three knockdowns. Cotto was pinpoint, kept catching Martinez with left hooks throughout the fight. I had thought Martinez was over the hill, but not on a lowly level like that. There was a night and day difference of Marinez then and Martinez that Cotto fought. I was expecting he still retains (if not much ) his kickass moves. He seemed at a loss throughout and his equilibrium was nowhere in sight. He had jelly legs. He sucked. Cotto made him look like a middling fighter and not an elite top middleweight champ that's been kicking the asses of bad-asses opponents. I say it was a walk in the park for Cotto. As for Martinez, he may be due for retirement.
Congratz to "marvelous" Sonsona. He's back. Keep winning boy!

eliminator bout ito. the winner will fight the IBF champ Barthelemy.

Pedraza, the undefeated boxer, who will try to outbox Michael & knock him out.
But he forget something. Farenas is a heavy handed fighter, who knockdown Yuriokis Gamboa before, remember?

Pedraza is a young talented boxer with a very good amateur background.

Mike should time this kid n knockout or we wil lose by points.
no other love to choose to.

michael should KO the puerto rican, if not he gonna lose via hometown UD, bcoz judges & ref are puerto rican.

Gerry, (@Movenpick Mactan Cebu) called me last week & invited me to watch his ward fight in Puerto Rico- expenses paid
but got too many absences/leave at work na kc, bossing wont allow me. sayang nga eh.
