What do you do if you have a turntable with multiple armboards?
what else, fill 'em up with arms

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for the trust and patronage.
The year has been a challenging one for me. Good thing amidst the whirl and buzz of the power tools, your turntable projects gave me quiet moments to reflect and regroup.

Hope you all have a very happy and prosperous new year ahead.

Hi Sir Noly. Happy New Year. How about a Sony PS-8750, can you attempt a repair? It's a flood victim. I did not open the thing so I don't know how bad the inside is. I'm Hoping someone can fix it. It was my go to rig in the 80's. Sayang. Thanks po.

im so excited with this build because this unknown dual model sings very well in the league of the better known ilder models like the lenco l75, garrard 301/401, etc.

First time I'm doing two projects simultaneously. A solid and a laminated plinth ready for tinting then off to varnish.

Could be an unconcious thought to get more job done before tuition time again next month.

Happy hot weekend everyone. Stay safe.

Re: TAS non-LENCO -a few summer projects

Postby TheAnalogSource » Sun Jul 12, 2015 7:42 pm

ever since i got my note4, i've been doing everything on the smartphone --- email, spreadsheets, documents, calendar, etc. I've eliminated the need for a desktop with that handy gadget especially with its otg function. however, some things are easier done with a full size keyboard such as posting on ws. so, i put off posting my projects until i get the chance to sit behind a desk once more.

This is my first full Thorens TD-124 complete project. Mounted on a solid acacia plinth. new mushroom footers. New armboard. Audio Technica tonearm.
Just the first drop of the needle made me a TD-124 enthusiast. Sings lovely.

THOREN TD160 SUPER
This one is just a rewire and some preventive maintenance project. Some PRAT issues. Initially, I thought it was the suspension system until thorough checking. Found out it was caused by corrosion on the subplatter thus the belt do not hug it snugly.

DENON DP1200
This is a replinth project. As you would know, most old turntables comes with chipboard plinth and deteriorates over time with our weather.
Did a replinth with solid wood then reveneer with real wood veneer.

Image
DUAL 1019
This is an underrated turntable here but google the model and you'll find out what we are missing. Ive always told myself that i wont be doing any dual anymore. Mechanism is crazy as a clock. But this project is so tempting thus difficult to give up. Took me half a year to get it going and I'll tell you that it is very much worth the trouble.

Technics Linear Trackers. SL10, SL7, SL5
Such a coincident that these type of turntables came to the shop at the same time so I took a photoops with them altogether.

Motorola Portable Turntable. Well....if you can find an outlet nearby. changed the tube amp section to ss. easier. :x ahhh... time to get back to reading again. :geek:

I always love to do this Pioneer series projects because when they are set up properly they sing heavenly. could give your midlevel table a run for their money.
This is a PL25. I think i've done a PL10,11,12,14.

maybe the owner just got an itch spending a few loose change. This table was running perfect. The plinth previously was perfect as well but was butchered when it was redone. So now have to do a refinish on the plinth again. A little oiling and adjustment done on the table and arm. Kaching haha.
Image

the pioneer here also came in a very bad shape. forgot though to take picture of the finished project... got a text from the owner though just a few nights ago and said he was happy that he is enjoying again his records after decades of not playing.
Image

i dont know if i got too busy with other things or was getting lazy lately. I owe the owner of this an apology because i promised to get it done in a weektime but took maybe about half a year to get done. Its just need a freaking head conversion to accomodate a standard cartridge. used to have a proprietary cartridge. I dont know why these manufacturers makes non-standard equipment. Makes it harder for us repair guys tsk tsk
