I bought this LP in one of those very commercial record stores in SM.
I like Joey Albert, so when I saw this album - together with a bunch of other Pinoy artists - I thought, sure. Hurried home, opened the album carefully, cleaned it, popped on my 'table, and prepared to be transported back to the 80s.
I was transported back, all right.
Back to the time when LPs and playbacks were so poor-sounding relative to what we have today, that they are nothing but noise (relatively speaking).
This was the worst-sounding LP I've ever heard that I had wanted to return it and buy myself a McDo or a Snack Shack burger nalang sana.
But I did not.
I like Joey Albert.
But this LP sounds so fake: s_ _ T this thing is made in Germany (sabi sa label).
Joey is like 10 rows away.
There's this fake echo.
and she sounded like an 18-year old girl (I can't remember if she was 18 years old THEN, but this recording made her sound like she's just starting to have her period.) Period.
If all those local LPs sound like this - sayang pera.
But for nostalgia, perhaps the 1,000 pesos can be justified.
or not.
Peace.
