2014 HiFi Show - THE BROTHERHOOD OF MEN (and WOMEN) Again, we come to this time of year where all those who love and breathe audio congregate in a single roof. The passion and dedication of all who listen and build audio is all too evident. So much effort by the master planner and the exhibitors who haul in and haul out tons of audio gear. It's a bit embarrassing that all I did was to pop in, sit, listen and chat with old and new friends, but hey, this representation got fatigued a few years ago 'exhibiting' a cartridge that weighed in at a mere 9 grams.
Pictures please....
Val's Room:
Mang Mandy's beautifully crafted linear tonearm wand for the Opus turntable/arm on passive display on the left, with Morita's Minimax Phono on the right.
Chuck E's Swedish made Opus turntable and linear tracking tonearm.
ChuckyBoy's Room:
ChuckyBoy was not playing Chuck E's In Love, but Ana Caram's Rio After Dark, which he said came from me. REALLY??? Ikaw pala ang nag hijack nun??
"MY GOOD FRIEND'S" Room: ARC Galileo Philippine Premiere.
Interesting shape of the new super tube, the KT-150. Like a egg, fitting to fry on the hot plate.
Pat Morita inspecting something. I believe it's not his Proteus.
Audio Amplified Room:
It was in this room that I met again, after 20 or so years, an audio friend from our Upscale Audio Quezon Ave days, Doc Les (to my right) thanks to the kind arrangement of Doc Angelo (esi) for this nice reunion; and I was told, I was flanked in all directions by FOUR M.D.s! I have always maintained that Biology was not my favorite subject in high school, otherwise, there would have been 5 M.D.s here.
All are into audio, so all is good.
AVDI Room:
A mechanical stunner of a turntable, the Kronos Sparta.
Audio World Room:
This one reminds me of the alien who was singing an opera piece in the movie The Fifth Element.
Smooth silky sound, like its body.
Harana Room - Featuring a pair of Hartley 24" woofers with horn drivers.
Architectural Audio's Room:
Martin Logan Room:
Panel speakers always attract me wherever they are.
Harbeth Room:
AVDI Raidho Room:
Slender and sexy looking, and cute.
In spite of being flooded with audio gears, the show is always about people, and the end result is better camaraderie and rekindling of the brotherhood between audio lovers and music 'passionistas'.
It's no easy task to put up something like this year after year and I'm glad that there is something like this in our audio community. Till next November again. Keep reaching for the stars and hold on to your wallets.
