The Analog Sin

Image

Recently i've been ask by a friend to consolidate his digital files - movies, pics, music - into a single library with multi room and multi platform access. An opportunity for me to relearn the digital infrastructure.

I hope i got it all right. The files are stored in separate Dlink NAS with RAID 1 redundancy. Several NAS connected to a wireless router so files can be access wired and wireless.
Here shown testing the system with a Xtreamer Sidewinder. Will try soon to access via smartphone when i get one because i still use a candybar Nokia hehe

Still have around 500 DVDs to go and been using Handbrake to convert.
Time consuming and wires are messy. That said... The Analog Source will never become The Digital Source anytime soon hehehe

p.s. please recommend better options if you have any. Thanks in advance.

Read this article from the June 2012 issue of the HifiNews and would like to share it with you.
Pretty much the history of the our beloved table. Sadly in the end, it was concluded to have been beaten by the Pioneer PL-12D according to the author.
Happy weekend.

Noly, we have a pioneer PL-15D and I think the guys at hifi world made a mistake. Though the pioneer sounds great as is, it's still belt driven and cant match the precision of the swiss motor. . . ;)

Obi strips is use to translate english wordings on the album to japanese. To some collectors, the obi is more important than the album itself. Album losing most of its value if the obi is damage or missing.

Im very vocal that im not a fan of japanese pressing but when i see albums i like with perfect OBI... i grab it.

Come to think of it even their food is OBIed hehehe

6moons review of the PTP Lenco

I especially like the 2nd to the last paragraph...very much the same as what Linn's Ivor was saying. Enjoy.

was surprised to see this on an old L&G turntable (luxman) brought in for servicing last week....

If it is an electrical switch, and the turntable motor is AC, then it does not do what you think it does. It merely changes the passive electronic parts of the motor; and it will not change the speed of the motor to suit 50 or 60Hz power supply.

If the motor is DC, then there's no need for any electrical switch to change between 50/60 Hz.

However, there are turntables with mechanical switches (most I have encountered are in the form of tumbler switch) which change the way the belt or the idler wheel engages the pulley. As shown in the picture below, the switch changes the height of the idler wheel to correspond to different pair of pulley diameters.
