all songs above are tentative, except this particular piece:

1. "Shiny Stockings" (3:32) - Ella and Basie recorded July 1963, Verve records

- young ella must sound like young ella.. no annoying sibilance observed

- let's hear basie's piano with the right timbre

- the bass must come-in tight and authoritative

- big band horns must be able to project the dynamic impact while ella and other instruments clearly present and not smeared. no clipping when band kicks-in. (2:15-2:45)

- drums will be distinct and snappy

finally test: must get me and the judges foot tapping!! :D :D :D

sound staging is optional! ;)

the judges' pick will be given the "Shiny Stockings" Award Trophy!!

here's a cut that's a good test for resolution and harmony.

Will It Go Around In Circles (4:36) The Power of Seven from the album Up-Front (1992, Sheffield Labs)

will your system allow us to pick the vocalists (7) as they take turns and harmonize? will we hear the triangle, bass guitar, kick drums and toms, snares, billy preston's hammond organ, electric guitar, and the percussions and tanbourine :geek:

not all systems will resolve everything...only the winners will ;)

(guaranteed to give you a headache if played on poorly designed/tuned systems)
