As a follow up, I have noticed that my classmate Endrick35 (more like Enrick50, heheheheh) does not believe in the source first upgrade dictum in audio. He has been experimenting with amplification and speaker modifications. I suggest that he upgrade his P3-24 to the Rega P7 and use the IOS for a phonostage and enjoy and bask in the sound of "Analog Audio".

Every component makes a difference, yes but the Rega IOS reference phonostage is something else. It is both weighty and its imaging is like Aztec Camera's famous 80's hit song (no its not 'somewhere in my heart') :D. Front ends are more important than mere speakers or cables alone. As they say sa audio "Reference in = audio nirvana out" much more so with high end electronics. Half the life of analog is with the phonostage.

I unfortunately borrowed TAS Rega IOS reference pstage for curiosity lang. Now I am having sleep deprivation treatment. Good thing may kilala akong magaling na doctor si Dr. Dy ng little baguio

Re: TAS PHONO PREAMPS & STEP UPs - Test-driving a Killer Phono

Postby TheAnalogSource » Sat Jan 21, 2012 6:33 am

This is so long due. The last of my 834P stocks are gone. But just before the last unit got sold, we were already on the prowl on new and exciting phonostages.
Yesterday we had to brave the pre-Chinese New Year traffic in downtown to test drive a new phono. You see, AUDIO8's place is where we test most new items for evaluation.
The system is so revealing that you will be able to discern the sound well and learn the new gear's character. Also, Ted has build his system well that he does not change gears that often. It gives us a solid base sound serving as foundation on what we will listen too.

Last night session was a success so here am i very excited to offer the newest phono from The Analog Source. My initial impression on this tube phono is that its very quiet perhaps quieter than some higher end solid-state phono. That's a rare feature on a tube phono, one that the EAR possesses too. what it gives you at first glance is you get a more expansive soundstage.

....to be continued....

Maganda talaga yan, Buboy. I have the EE Minimax DAC and, if the phono is anything like it, it should be another killer too!
