Olive O3HD has volume control intended for active speakers only. Just sharing :) ;) . If interested please ask our dealers.

Many thanks.

Keith, Accuphase? Reasonably priced? :) I think not. My brother is looking more along the lines of low priced Brit/Japanese/Chinese stuff.

Accuphase is not reasonably priced for Bill Gates or Li Ka Shing :) :) :)

It's certainly waaaaay out of the ballpark for me.

How about the Benchmark DAC1? Then you can just get an old player or new DVD player to use as a transport. Not sure if the Benchmark DAC is still being sold here though.

Other options:
Theta Miles, if you can find a second hand one.
Sony ES series cd players, also if you can find 2nd hand units.

Hope this helps. ;)

Rotel has a CD-receiver which is a cd player, dac (it has digital inputs), 100wpc integrated amp, fm & internet radio, usb player, ipod dock and uPnP wired/ wireless network music media player all rolled into one ... the RCX1500. It is not exactly cheap (~P75k SRP) but you only have to hook up a pair of speakers to it, and it has all the bases covered (err, except analog - it doesnt have a built in phono but it has one line input for an external phono stage)

Great value for someone starting from scratch if you ask me.

I agree with sir Keith re: Sony ES series. I have a lampizated tubed vintage sony es-337 cdp with dual tda-1541a chips(highly regarded and treasured dac) and the sound is analogue like. Other cdp's with tda-1541 chips are the marantz cd-94 and cambridge cd4. Goodluck on your hunt sir!:-)

hi jov. i still use my old dependable harman kardon hk7725. 4 outputs-2 digital, 2 analog line outs. one is fixed and one has a remote output level feature which also controls the headphone level. highly rated during its time. if a good used one is available.

also, some better, readily available dvd players have a remote volume feature. (i now use a teac, and previously had a pioneer, both with this feature) you might want to consider this .

regards. see you again soon.

Cheers!

Musical Fidelity M1 Clic
Its a music player/streamer that handles mainstream audio codec with built in 24/192 DAC and volume contol. LAN, wireless streaming, a host of digital connections including USB (Apple Compliant - for Ipods).
Most of all it sounds outstanding....
