Service and Repair

Postby ricae » Fri Aug 01, 2008 11:41 am

I have an old (1982) Carver amp in need of repair. It is a model M-400a (cube). It turns on and plays normally for about 5 minutes and then shuts down. I cant restart it unless I let it rest for an hour or so.

I have been using it to play music and sound from my computer.

If anyone can suggest how or where to have it repaired please pm me.

Thanks

Its a magnetic field amplifier that seems to be difficult to fix. I am still hoping to find someone able to fix it locally.

Does anybody know a competent technician who can fix a vintage solid state twin powered harman kardon?

The left channel goes out sometimes and you have to fiddle with the balance to get the sound back.

I appreciate any help.

Hi trauma,

You can try Mang Rod ... Give him a call at 522-1696 ... If he's not loaded, that'll be a while-u-wait jobbie! :) Hope this helps.

looks like a corroded pot....actually you can diy this...just spray electronic contact cleaner on the balance pot while turning it left to right over and over. else any electronic technician can clean it for you.

You can also try the Sansui Service Center at V V Soliven Center in front of Camp Aguinaldo. I had a vintage Sansui AU717 amplifier and TU717 tuner repaired and it is working very well now. The owner could repair just about anything and is very knowledgeable.

May I know the last time you where in the repair center? I know they moved out a couple of years back. Soliven center is so pathetic and run down :(

Hi guys, I'm looking for someone who can repair my dad's old Technics SL-1900 turntable. Any recommendations? Would hypertriode be the man to ask as well?
