Before I was a Toyota fan, I was a Mariwasa fan, and Israel 'Cisco' Oliver was one of their celebrated import. The he moved to Alaska Milk and did this commercial with the 'Alaska Boy' Uytengsu. I always get a kick out of Cisco's 'Tagalog'.

For 8 years, a president of the United States. And we remember him. Well, almost...
I think this exchange showed what was called 'foreign policy'.

And if one gets lost in the 'heated exchange', here's the 'transcript'.

And now, for some original videos, not available on deebeedee... :D

Don't ask me how I found it, I forgot... :D But this girl is pinay and has some talent. And as she states, she's 18, and studying in La Salle. I never had anything bad to say about our rival school, you know. I love 'greens' - veges, Celtics, and now, this:

The video above surprised me. While it's obvious it's not her voice, the mixing is quite good, ala MTV. Timing is great. Wonder who is the 'mastering engineer' of this. :D
And below, her real voice - 'unplugged' style. Cute, and she plays the guitar a lot better than me, so I don't want to analyze it.

BRUCE LEE

Postby jadis » Tue Jan 19, 2010 9:07 am

I Remember Bruce...

Bruce Lee, or 李小龍 to his compatriots, is an 'eternal hero' to me. Ever since his movies hit these shores, (I was in high school then), the man's mystique has stuck to my senses like no other movie star had done before. He crossed over the shaolin style to form his own technique which he named 'Jeet Kune Do', and this uniqueness made him a household legend in the history of martial arts. World champions then like Chuck Norris and Bob Wall would be his students, Hollywood movie stars James Coburn and Steve McQueen were brief students of his too, so was Lakers living legend Kareen Abdul Jabbar, and a Fil-Am named Dan Innosanto who was one of three people allowed by Bruce to teach his martial art style. I would never get tired of watching any of his movies again and again, and the ultimate was watching a 3 movie for the price of 1 set at Times Theatre in Quiapo with my uncle in the mid-70s. It was a non-stop 6 hour affair and by the time I got out, I remember I was a bit dazed and had a hard time walking straight. :D Below are my favorite clips from his movies.

From "Way of the Dragon" - Single-handedly beating up the 'Italian Mafia'.

From "Enter The Dragon" - Destroying World Karate Champion Bob 'O'Hara' Wall.

From 'Game of Death' - Nunchaku duel with Dan Innosanto.

From "The Way of the Dragon" - Classic 'fight to the death' duel with Chuck Norris.

From 'Fists of Fury" - Taking on the whole bunch of 'karate kids'.

Boston Celtics

Postby jadis » Wed Jan 27, 2010 8:38 pm

Being virtually a life-long and eternal Boston Celtic fan, here are 3 of my favorite 'heroic' monents in the annals of the Celtics' cherished playoff victories. And they all involved 'stealing'. This is one, (or three) of those ultra-rare moments, wherein stealing actually becomes a good thing. :D I'm sure kabayan kabubi has seen these clips a million times. :D :D

Havlicek Steals the Ball ! ! !

Henderson Steals the Ball ! ! !

Bird Steals the Ball ! ! !

about the Boston Celtics' most memorable moments...

AHLUVIIIIIIIT!

kulang pa. what about that inbound pass by Pierce to Rondo with 0.6 sec to go and Miami ahead by 1?

Image

PS. who was the announcer covering the game when Havlicek stole the ball? didnt you just love him ranting "Havlicek steals the ball!!! Havlicek steals the ball!!! until he ranted himself hoarse? the only thing that can beat that was that memorable radio coverage of the Hindenburg exploding into a ball of fire in Lakehurst, New Jersey.

Here you go, ka-bubs: (As good as Wade was, he left six tenth of a second to the Celts for Pierce to lob to Rondo for the miracle hoop.)

And the legendary Celtic play-by-play announcer was Johnny Most, with the 'patented' raspy voice. If I'm not mistaken, it was his voice too in that Bird to DJ conversion.

Though I'm not a fan of T-Mac or the Rockets, this has got to be among the greatest highlights of an individual performance by one man in an NBA game. T-Mac doing 13 points in 33 or so seconds, against a tough San Antonio Spurs team of Tim Duncan, et al. Believe it or not. :o
