Dungeonmeister's REVENGE

Postby mandym » Fri Oct 17, 2008 7:27 am

Far too many high end manufacturers seem content to leave their costumers to their own device about protecting their kilobuck cantilevers! It's like ....You bought it, Bahala na kayo. It is very irresponsible of them but then I suppose retipping brings them good business! Many of us have our own stories on how we thrashed our cantilevers.

Well, the Dungeonmeister feels this attitude stinks worse than his dungeon and from his cauldron has cooked up a brew that will give his inmate friends peace of mind.

Making one that will fit all cartridges doesn't seem to be too difficult. We shall see.

Maybe you mean out of the HEADSHELL? :D

Thanks all for the encouragements.

Here are my thoughts on this device:
1. It is not too difficult to DIY and I will certainly help those who would like to make one themselves.
2. This is a "set and forget" thing; no moving parts; very simple; no critical adjustments.
3. Transferable to other headshells and cartridges.

So, here is my proposal,
I need some bread to feed the dungeon mice and to rejuvenate my assistant's brain in the jar. For those not too handy with their hands or too lazy to bother or want an (ahem) Mandym original, I can make up a batch of maybe a dozen pieces at between P1K to P1.5K each. so if anyone is interested, PM me. I'll start making some if I get an order of 12 or more.

Sir Mandy, you should set up a product design group! Your brain is so full of product ideas that the world can benefit from (including the audio world).

Count me in Sir! :)

Genius

That looks so much better than fiddling with those awful plastic covers (that always get me close to a heart attack when i take them off)

I had the chance and the privilege to feel how the stylus guard operates. This was yesterday when I raided the dungeon. It had a smooth but secure feel when inserting the guard into the headshell piece. The weight of the piece(holster/holder)that remains in the headshell is negligible. The stylus guard itself can withstand a pretty nasty bump.

Brilliant indeed
