I'll be OK, it's nothing a couple of Prozacs can't fix

I don't know Jack, I just played Sir Georg Solti's "The Rite of Spring" on the new table and my puny 8" Lowthers gave out a cavernous amount of bass that they never gave before (nah, its not boominess). I wanted to surrender to the experience and turn the volume up to alive. Alas, my 9 Watt amp was not up to the task. I am dreaming how great it will sound on your system.

That is, unless the old "component synergy" bugaboo rears it's ugly head! HAHAHA Only joking!...Hindi pa naguumpisa, gumagawa na agad ng ALIBI!!

Seriously though, "component synergy" be damned, I think it will make a good account of itself and demonstrate the merits of a well damped system.

Let's party!

i can see where you are coming from, as i am very familiar with the lowther sound and as we both agree that the lowthers tend to shout, however i think what you just heard is not so much as a shout, i think your ttable may have worked nicely with the lowthers. i find this extended bass interesting as in my experience it is usually the idler drives that gives out the bass. i await the results of the field test. if only i am there to experience it first hand! btw
where you able to apply your prototype magnetic drive on this project?

Hi Pigdog,

The magnetic drive coupling concept turned out to be beyond my ability to execute. It needed precision in magnetic strength of the magnets and their locations. Otherwise there would be unbalanced forces which would produce "wobbling" no matter how slight, resulting in what else...vibration!

Chester, the bass really amazed me! I have read (and experienced) that as extraneous vibrations are minimized, the better the bass gets. I think that a significant (if not THE major) amount of these chaotic vibrations are within the tonearm itself (resonances, internal reflections, etc) so I am trying a lot of techniques to tame these nasties, including, believe it or not, a pivot needle made of KAMAGONG :!: :!: :!: . No, I am not crazy, there is good reason for trying this which I can try to explain some other time. Heelllpppp, I'm going down the deep end!

Me thinks I have been spending too much time in my dungeon.

HI Mandy, I tend to credit the bass to the Kamagong pivot ;)

This is gonna be FUN!!!!!

That's 300 high current single ended zero feedback watts into a 94dB sensitive beast that goes down to 20Hz your baby will be feeding.

Your TT will be a good 5 to 6 meters away but all components rest on constrained layer vibration isolation platforms (Symposium for Digital, Critical Mass Systems for all amplification). The system has been compared to systems employing twin 12" powered subs so the damping is not a product of porma tactics but is a real world necessity.

Take a close look see at the bitumen layers of the CMS Mandy ;)

Leapin' Lizards! I might need to have my cavities refilled after the session :!: Can't wait to have my gut massaged. OT: I read that if your body gets bombarded with around 7Hz high-intensity sound waves, you make a beeline for the crapper. Jack, make sure you have a good supply of TP on hand!

Arnold, I am thinking the same thing about the Kamagong pivot. If it works out well, I'll tell you the dungeon keeper's secret formula. Yes, please bring your camera so we can the table apart and take pictures of the components.

Great Arnold, we can zoom in on the Kamagong tip!

What I am bringing is not (yet) a work of art, it's Raggedy Andy style, tapal-tapal because it's DIY on the fly

Disente at malinis naman siya.
