I'm sure you are now making a DIY outrigger for your cartridge ASAP. I don't think you will be disappointed. Keep me posted.

Mandy,

yup already did :D , and with very pleasing results, if I may say :D Louie Jalbuena suddenly stepped back about 3 ft from where I usually hear him sing :D Dynamics, imaging and soundtage has greatly improved. Thanks for leading me to Frank Val Alstine and Bob Nielsen.

Now, I need to make a better looking outrigger  the tamiya parts made my cart look like a rhino    :D

Hahah, bet the improvement brought a big smile to your lips. You should find it easier now to adjust VTA and azimuth because it will be easier to hear the changes.

BTW allow me to correct my other post. The person I meant to mention is Van Alstine (as you said) not Van den Hull.

You said it :D :D :D I even liked the recording of the Sesame Street LP when my daughter asked me to play it. :D :D :D

BTW, I stand corrected as well, my earlier post should also spell as Van Alstine

I'll try doing Bob Nielsen's original design on the grado, as he mentioned that the outrigger would be most effective when it's under the pivot point and very close to the cantilever.

Will let you know how it comes out.

Cheers

3 modules for better isolation: Motor pod, Platter system, Tonearm pod all separate from each other. How does it look? It looks OK. How does it sound? I have no idea, we'll all find out soon enough :D

What an ingenious design, Mandym - isolating the entire armboard/base for isolation purposes. Awesome!

Thanks Jadis

With my trusty old stethoscope, I could not detect an iota of motor noise getting through the armboard, total silence. With 4 pounds of lead ballast inside the pod, its got to be the heaviest arm pod this side of the planet

You asked for it. I only wish I have the talent of a Sinar or a Racio so I could do justice to it.

Come to think of it, this is a DIYers table. It is modular so one can do what he wants on one module without affecting the others. Adjusting for arm lengths and overhang is done simply by moving the arm pod to the correct distance.
