Alembong - maarte ang gawa
Pigil - you know the music but it seems something is holding it back
Kuripot - a friend described his bass inside his car
Bulol - parang pigil, pero may busal; speaker description (may takip pala yun tweeters niya)

audiophile terms

Postby kabubi » Fri Aug 11, 2006 9:26 am

bloom - a gradual or sudden improvement in sound quality, as in "Pagkatapos ng 15 mins, nag-bloom yung tunog ng tubo..."

malutong - crisp, as in "ang lutong ng bass nung voigts ni Ike..."

ngongo - muted, as in "di ko gusto yung tunog nung recording, parang ngo-ngo..."

then there are terms that WS members use that don't refer to sonic quality. here are a few:

Audiofool - the more apt term for a Filipino audiophile, as in "i am an avowed audiofool"

Audiophilia Nervosa - (check out JackD's thread for an in-depth description and compose your own examples)

Piranha - a WS member who constantly stalks the site for desired vinyl records and CDs. one who is passionate in getting as much recorded material imaginable, in the fastest way possible. one who delights in jumping the gun over the other 'piranhas' and one who anguishes after being beaten to the draw, as in "the WS piranhas felt like it was the end of the world after the buy and sell LPs and CDs thread disappeared from the site..."

Newbie - a veteran and supremely knowledgeable WS audiofool with less than 50 posts, as in "ano, si Choobs, newbie pa lang???"

"Nakakaiyak ang tunog" - I guess this applies to both extremes

"Listening to this is better than sex!" - usually said by audiophiles who definitely need to get out more

"Parang nag-jo-jogging lang" - effortless
