Where to get an iPod Classic serviced?

Postby troporobo » Mon Jan 04, 2016 11:47 am

It was inevitable, but still a tragic day. My iPod Classic is losing its will to live. It powers up and is recognized by iTunes but will not play or even show the contents, although the firmware (e.g. settings, extras) are all accessible.

Anyone know where to find a technician who is willing to dig into the problem?

have you tried "hard reset"? - pressing Menu and Center button at the same time for 6-8 seconds

Yep, tried both. Reset does nothing useful. The restore process got it running again and gives access to menus and settings, but it still doesn't recognize any content even though it shows 100 Gb of space utilized. I suspect a logic board problem but have no idea how to diagnose or fix it.

Both Switch and Power Mac refused to work on a "vintage" device even though it was only discontinued last year. So much for the legendary Apple customer service. Now I think I need a hacker!
