VD, I inquired at their FTI plant already and maybe have one done for my CA640P phonostage. I'm not sure if mine is DC or AC as shown in the diagram. Maybe Jon can answer?

I'll show this to Andrew and have one custom made.

this is DC.

can you indicate what is the existing PS? what is the current (mA) rating?

Boss VD, sent you a PM regarding the AMX 12vdc power supply. Have one just like it but can't seem to find the proper connector + wire to attach to the binding posts. . .

VD, oh so its DC. I thought it was AC. :$ :$
The walwart says 12V 500mA.

Yes...the MF X series has AC output adapters while the new V series has the DC output adapters. That's why the PSU upgrade will be different for both series.

Raul,

The walwart is just a transformer, with the rectifiers and filters included in the PCB of the cambridge.

If you want to do this, you need to remove all the PSU components in the phonostage PCB and place them in a separate PCB, far from the phonostage :) A few guys at VE already did this. ;)

..... or you can just do what I did, go pure DC via SLA batteries :)

Boss VD, solved my own problem.

Bought a cable set from Electronics Boutique and matched the cables to the terminals. Also determined that the polarity was correct via my digital multi meter. Covered the terminals and the unused adapters with electrical tape just to be sure.

BTW, I measured the stock V-DAC wall wart and it was registering 17.6V. WIth the AMX PSU, I got 12.6V. Forgot to measure the current though, but the box says its 1.2A.

But will likely drop off the orig wall wart sa Kinetic one of these days. Hope boss Andrew can make a more permanent and more elegant cable to attach to the terminals for me.

Thanks!

Btw, here are pics of the little black box, along with the DIY DC connection to the V-DAC.

power supply which can handle (rated) 10X or more than its load (equipment) will surely give benefits.
switching power supply may add noise especially if it has poor filtering.
