I've heard good sound from the following:

Proac Tablette Ref 8 and CJ MV55, imaging champ
Proac 1SC and Marantz 9 or Dyna Mk IV, well balanced
SF Cremona and CJ MV60SE, dynamic pair
Spendor S3/1P and Wellborne 300b or Dyna Mk IV/ST70/ST35
Spendor S3/5 and Plinius Integrated, made the small sound big
Harbeth HL5 and BAT VK 75 (?), a lot of everything
Dynaudio Contour 1.1 and Classe 70,
Lamms and VSA, of course
Various LS3/5a's with McIntosh MC225, Marantz 8&9, Quad II, Dynaco ST70/ST35/Mk IV, Pilot SA 232, sweet combos
SF Guarneri and Jadis JA30 or CJ (I don't know what model)
SF Extrema and Krell KSA 300 (?), one of my early fave combos

We'll have to hear it from the man himself as he's tried nearly all the permutations of his current and still growing vintage collection to extract the right synergies. I foresee it to be a long post from him...

Cayin MT-12 and NHT SB3.

I regret giving them up. The sound from the combo still haunts me. I thought I could easily find something more interesting and affordable at the same time. (Well, this thread is an excellent lead).

Even at low volume it can sustain highly engaging music. It can also blast you from your seat. I remember listening through the Who's Tommy remastered album. busog na busog ang tenga ko right after. Parang nalinisan ng todo :P

unforgettable combos ive heard:

BAT with Vienna Acoustics haydn - very sweet vocals and a slam beyond its size, easy listener's combo
BAT with usher BE718 - expansive stage and detail with the right timbre
B&K with Monitor Audio GS10 - very transparent, detailed, aggressive yet non fatiguing
CJ with Von Schweikert VR1 - slam beyond its size, very neutral, very good detail, non fatiguing
nad with psb - very deep and heavy bass, clean sound, the right timbre
manley with Q acoustics - surprisingly good :), a giant killer
manley with Totem acoustics rainmaker - very nicely playing string music
unison research with sonus faber guarneri - like live vocals, very sweet sounding
cayin with vandersteen 2ce - its playing "oye como va" and santana's presence is almost there.
musical fidelity with paradigm signature S1-expansive stage, good detail
VTL with focal jmlab grand utopia - bass to die for, detail to die for
halcro with wilson audio watt puppy5 - presence to die for. there is depth, layering among voices and instruments.
ARC with anthony gallo ref3 - very nicely playing the brothers four lp
nad with klipsch F1 - the highs got me excited, the bass made me search for a "sub" that wasnt there.
accuphase with harbeth - very good presence. relaxing listen. the mids are to die for

Ambience Reference 1600 and Lamm ML1.1 this is an eerie combination with an extremely inner lit and immersive quality. Like being in cool water except you can breath. I definitely WILL be keeping this. Kunware na lang demo

Using them with Keith's ML2.1 SETs made me feel like I was in zero gravity watching constellations but I can't justify that na. :(

Harbeth HL-P3 and flying mole dad-m100s. Sound was very balanced, makes me just listen to a whole album. Before I had this combo I would change cds after a few songs.

I have stuck with this combo for a while, as I wanted a compact setup that can cater to various ranges of music in my smallish room. But now i plan to move on to a different setup
