Disappearing Posts

Postby egay » Tue Aug 31, 2010 5:36 pm

hello there -
there was a post by DCAROL that seemed 'odd' because it appeared as independent post from an original mone done by Richochet, nevertheless, i answered it because it was interesting... when i hit the send button, my post disappeared and the independent post by DCAROL suddenly appeared in the original thread - wow, magic!

what had just happened?

Most likely, when you clicked on the submit button, the thread you were replying to was already merged with the other one. When that happens, your post will have nowhere to go because the thread will be non-existent.

Me too. I assumed my comment was edited out by the mods but after hearing similar experiences from you guys this may not be so.

The mods don't just delete posts without advising the poster. We do observe basic courtesies here. :)

yeah dante,

we're aware of such courtesies & we appreciate that.
i am quite ok on my part, and i supposed chet & rs should be ok, too - we were just surprised that in a split second, almost in a "twinkling of an eye", our post & the specific thread we were answering just vanishes in thin air :?: & magically reappears somewhere, minus our posts

gave me a creepy feeling that time was bent :geek:

no sweat

Davi, I just posted a reply to the Trio con Brio thread and had this same thing happen to me. My first post vanished as soon as I hit the "submit" button. Do you think phpBB has a problem?

Dante, I'll do some test and see if I can reproduce the problem. But I don't think it's a phpBB problem, it could be a network / ISP related issue.

I didn't encounter the problem on the tests that I did. I ran some optimizations just in case it's database related.
