NEWBIE: Introducing Myself

Postby caloym26 » Fri Sep 15, 2006 7:10 pm

Greetings to everyone! Hi, I am Caloy Montemayor, a businessman who just relocated to Dagupan City, Pangasinan last Febuary 2006. I inherited this hobby from my father, Rene, and uncle, Jess -- they were responsible for getting me this hobby -- so I have them to thank.

My audio/2-chan home theater system in Manila consists of Musical Fidelity X-150 int amp, B&W 705 speakers, Goldring GR1 (from MoJazz), Musical Fidelity CDT CD player, JVC DVD player. I am planning an upgrade with TT. I have a spare BW602s3 and Technics TT (from my dad) that I plan to use in a future system.

My home theater system in Dagupan consists of HK AVR130, Wharfedale Diamond 8.4, 8 center, and 8.1, SW150. It was hastily put together to keep my wife and two-year old daugther happy and pre-occupied during our transition here in the province. I am currently scouring the pre-owned market place for my 2-channel audio system. I have received a lot of good advice and encouragement from other members -- thank you very much.

As for music, i prefer Jazz. Nevertheless, I am a music lover above all things, and listen to wide array of genres. I inherited a lot of LPs from family members, saving me the expense of collecting LPs. I have also gotten hooked ny DVD concerts as well.

More power to WS for solidfying the audio community, this is a wonderful avenue to learn, meet new friends, and most of all listen to good music! Cheers!

Caloy Montemayor

Hello everybody, im Andrew G. Supposed to get a 5.1 but since all formats would standardize into the next HD, opted to go for lumang technology which never changes. Kaya eto... naka 2 channel setup narin.

Magandang araw!

Hi

I'm new here. Filipino residing in Singapore. My stereo set-up is using a Sony CDP-X3000 w/ MSB Link DACIII, Krell Kav300i and Spendor SP3/1P speakers. Planning to get a budget turntable (maybe Project Debut III) to try vinyls.

Regards to all.

MSM just called VD nerdy.

BAN HIM!

Greetings I'm Jack and I post more times than I eat in one day.

Sige na nga serious:

Into audio since....forever. As for gear, started out spinning for parties and had some professional stuff like JBL compression drivers, big 18" Junior earthquakes and early hi-power mosfet amps by Fostex. Quit that when I entered college and migrated to HT at the rise of surround sound with a Pioneer receiver and AR speakers. I went into business but ended up feeling the pull of audio. I went for training in the US and was certified as a Recording Engineer, 3 different Digital Audio Workstation platforms and MIDI programming and Digital Post Production Engineer for Film and TV, and Studio Design and Construction. As fate would have it my entry into being a Kapuso, was derailed and I entered politics instead. I am now the Representative of the people of the 1st Congressional District of the Province of Rizal. Incidentally Keith and I became dealers of Von Schweikert Audio in the Philippines, an endeavor that has helped pay for our upgrades but more importantly has allowed us to gain many, many friends in and outside of Wiredstate.

I enjoy both tubes and solid state, digital and analog. I feel I've reached a point where I like what I hear in my systems but also admit that tinkering with side projects is also a whole lot of fun. I'm now into commissioning works by our local designers and fabricators.

It is always a pleasure for me to share what little knowledge and experience I have with members of this community and I always respond to PMs asking for help.

So newbies, don't be shy. It's all good. :)
