My personal experience with them is very good. 10 years old and still going with just with periodic cleaning. the only problem we had is finding a replacement for the worn out remote controls. most universal aircon remote controls do not have the code for koppel. so now we turn them on via the power button on the indoor unit. aside from that, the a/c does its job well.

hope this helps. Cheers!

My experience is that koppel units are also sturdy.....but as for the quiet factor, I would go for Panasonic. Koppel units over time of use tend to be noisy.

Another thing is, in order to have quiet operation, you need to provide extra capacity or 1 unit size larger so that you do not need to run on high fan speed -- which causes the noise inherently.

the outdoor units do get quite noisy over time, but the indoor unit, for me, is fine. Just place the outdoor unit as far as possible.

Tochi, my unsolicited advice: get your room measurement and follow this formula: Koppel + Copeland x Ilks = Traffic Ticket Citation :?:

Get the ones that don't need a water drain. The fan splashes condensed water around while it cools the evaporator. Our LG does this.
