Hi Noly!

Try to check with Generali Pilipinas (subsidiary of BDO)...they currently have insurance for Photography Equipment and also Home Appliances...Try also Malayan Insurance...Malayan also has insurance for Photography Equipment...My friend, whose Photography Equipment is worth around P150,000.00 paid around P4,000++ annually for the insurance premium. Thanks! :D

anything is insurable - the question is "Who will provide the coverage?"

Jen mentioned 2 providers; you can check them out, but let me mention some simple risk managemet thoughts:
- small, mobile equipment are difficult to insure because of the high-risk involved: theft, DDD (dishonesty, disappearence, destruction)
- they lose value immediately, thus, you have to agree or figure-out your limits with your insurer/provider
- if insured, be prepared for high deductibles - this is to protect the insurer and you: you create your own risk management, too

Jen's example of 4k/150k risk is DIRT CHEAP - but please check-out what the terms and conditions are (e.g. deductibles)

try pioneer insurance. They insure laptops or macbooks. Got this info from another forum where this very question was extensively tackled. Here's the contact number of an agent who might be of use: Agent's name is Mary Grace. Her cell is 09228480658. I can't personally vouch for her but its a start. With the slew of laptop thefts, ranging from "salisi" to outright holdups in coffee shops, and with the cost of new laptops/macbooks in the 5 to 6 figure range, this might just be what one needs for some peace of mind. Also, please beware of high-tech laptop thieves who are using some kind of detectors on parked cars to sniff out laptops/macbooks hidden inside the car. Better safe than sorry.....
