Postby conspicuous » Mon Sep 12, 2005 9:32 pm

i found this old thread about golf:

viewtopic.php?t=1178

the poster jick didn't get much of a response (only marty_e responded) so he concluded that golf and audio probably don't mix

this was more than 2 years ago. i'm into golf and audio. i'm not too good at both  one thing's for sure though i enjoy both very much :D and both cost a lot of money :( both also drive the spouse batty

so i'll revive the question. any audiofools out there into golf as well?

Used to be a golfer too but growing family took precedence. Almost 3 years not into regular playing, only once in a blue moon. Previous hcp =8, present hcp = rt. shoulder tweaked. Godspeed.

Same here. Used to be single digit, now, who knows!
Still have my clubs "shiny and oiled" and ready for the battle as time permits, which I believe, very very soon.

I am beginning to noticed that I am not as "enthusiastic" in audio as I used to be.......Naahhhh!

But seriously, golf gives me different highs and frankly speaking, I am missing it terribly. I guess it's time to spray some balls in the driving range.

Fore............!!!

JackD I think the 14 now only applies to the front nine. Another 14 for the back and we're all set!

MVA is a steady 22 but leave your wallet in the locker as he's been known to rob people blind. TonyDog and I first met at the golf course. Of course, IHJ was a legend at Wack Wack as with the good Congressman.

hah! i knew there would be quite a few golfers in the forum! :D however with the proclaimed hcps here i am certain i play more golf (most exercised) than anyone else coz i swing my clubs more in any given game

i like kukang's idea of a wired state golf tourney organized by IHJ. we can have a few clearaudio or vpi turntables as prizes :D :D or we could just have a tournament for charity. :)

i recently won the class c championship in my company's tournament (i'm a tournament player by the way ) at the new ayala greefield estate golf course in calamba last month. i guess my hcp of 36 really helped in putting me in the class c lead  i have very similar golf and bowling scores but i love both sports :)

my stuff is all used except for my ping G2i B60 putter which i bought new. ping steel shaft 1stk irons, callaway biggest big bertha driver, callaway big bertha 3 wood. good enough for a somewhat golfing newbie like me :D

pls share your gear. :)

Taylormade R7 9.5 deg Aldilla NV 55 Stiff, Steelhead III 4-wood or Steelhead 4+ NV 55 and NV 65 Stiff respectively, Rescue 3, NV Hybrid Regular, 4 to PW Taylormade 320 LM Precision Rifle Tour Flighted Shafts 5.5 freq., Mizuno 52 Gap Wedge, Lynx Nickel Chromium 56 and 60 degree, Scotty Cameron Center shafted Red X. Current favorite ball Bridgestone B330.

Alternate Set

Tourstage 9 degree X-Drive shaft is YS-Power Stiff, Tourstage F st 3 wood, Tourstage 20 deg X-club, Tourstage TS-201 Irons (That's where the 201 in my username comes from) NS-Pro 950 Regular, Cleveland 900 51, 56, 60, Tourstage PX-2 Putter. This is the set I used to compete with when I was a single digit aka before politics. The Deep Face driver and semi-blade irons are too much to handle for me now.

BTW I have a Ping G2 driver hardly (two rounds only, given to me by my Dad) used 10 degrees regular factory fit NV 65 shaft. Too soft for me. Interested? Will trade for 4 boxes of Titleist Pro V-1x or Bridgestone B330.

Having given up the hobby for some time, I'm ashamed to even post my aged gear here but here goes:

Nike Forged Titanium 350cc X-Face Japanese model (Firm)
Cloned Titanium 3/5 woods from PRC (Firm)
Ping Eye 2+ Black Dot 3-9 ZZ Lite steel shaft (Regular)
Cleveland 588 Gap Wedge (53deg)
Titleist Berrylium Copper L Wedge (58deg)
Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport/Oddyssey Rossie II/Ping Anser 4 - depends on speed of the greens...

Before I decided to hang up my sticks, i brought my handicap to its lowest with a set of Cleveland Tour Action 3 Forged Cavity backs with 6.0 Rifle shafts. I swapped them for the Pings as those clubs were for the parktisado. I find Ping Eye 2+ friendlier for a guy who plays twice a year.

P.S. Anyone care for a barely used Nike Tour 9.5" Staff bag? Wont fit my car trunk anyway...

I had a friend who used to play golf kapag maihit ang kanyang ulo. Kapag nakahataw na siya ng bola, tanggal ang kanyang init ng ulo specially kong malakas ang kanyang pagkakahataw. Isinasama lang ako ng aking kaibigan.

nice gear guys! :D thanks for posting. :)

jack, now you got me thinking of allocating audio funds away for that ping G2 driver  :D if ever i can fit it in i might take you up on that offer. i think i'm about ready to graduate to 10 deg driver. :)

AIL, i must be like your friend. all i need is one good drive in the whole game and it makes my whole game worthwhile and keeps me addicted to the damn sport :)

Last time we played with Butch, you were still pretty good despite the rust buddy. Actually we should play more. There's always night time for audio. Those guys I know who quit golf to concentrate on audio got big around the middle Sino kaya mga yun?

So MVA is a shark pala! Has he been taking Jimmy K's money?

Hey, that would be interesting to have a wiredstate golf tournament. If I'm in Manila, I'll join. I usually have time to play more in Manila than here and the reason I still maintain my membership at ACCI. Plan to be in Manila 11/11 at least till 12/21. Have to return here for the Holidays although I wish I can spend Christmas and New Year there but I'll be missing Thanksgiving here so got no choice but to return. Let me know!

he hit the ball more than he could imagine in a fairways. :D
