Thanks for the kind words!

Kailangan mag experiment with EI, in general Diafine works best with traditional emulsions because it is an old formula.

When I was still in the USA, I used Ilford DDX/Delta 100 to achieve finer grain, naubos na and didn't want to transport liquid chems. Recently I realized I still had a few feet of Delta 100 left in my bulk loader. So I searched Flickr and the 'net for Diafine info on this film. Found this link and tried exposing the film @ ISO100, rated box speed instead of the Fotohuis suggested ISO80, 1/3rd stop difference lang naman at tinatamad. Even if the result was a tad grainier and has less contrast in Diafine than DDX, it exceeded my expectation because Delta 100 is a modern type of emulsion.

Since it is a two-bath, control over contrast is limited and can only be tweaked slightly via EI. Good starting point for films wherein you don't have reliable data is expose one stop over. But as you will see below depende talaga sa emulsion and taste din ng shooter.

Here are EIs (exposure indices) that worked for me:
Delta 100 = 100
Foma 100 = 160
Acros 100 = 200
APX100 = 200
Lucky SHD 100 = 200 (not very happy after bracketing between 100-200)
ERA100 = 200 (like this film a lot better than Lucky SHD100, available ba dito?)
PX125 = 400 (pero 250-320 has better contrast, tamad lang ako mag meter or mag isip)
NP400 = 640 (not too happy, too much contrast for my taste on scanner but maybe in an enlarger it works, so trying 800 now)
HP5+ = 800
TX400 = 1250 (recommended @ 1600, pero ang nipis ng negs)
NP1600 = 1600

While visiting in 2006 I bought several rolls of Colpan 100 in Hidalgo cheap, I bracketed 100, 125, 160, 200, pangit lahat , used it for testing cameras :lol:

Diafine works for me because it gives consistent results. I've used D76, DDX, Rodinal and paRodinal....they are all excellent. Since I shoot for fun, instead na maka relax ako, I get stressed out tempering the chemicals, especially here due to our climate.

Di ko lang nakasundo HC110, palaging overcooked ang negs....nakakalito kasi at palaging mali ang mixture ko....after 2 ruined rolls, I gave up :rofl:

I've been encouraging Jay to DIY a Diafine equivalent, I'm sure patok ito dito sa atin!

Double XX di pa ako naka gamit but would love to try it....hirap mag order niyan, kailangan 400ft. minimum. Most of my Shanghai trip in B&W where shot with PX125/Diafine/EI400.

This guy has some nice shots and info on Double XX/Diafine + other films.

yung era100 alam ko sa hidalgo nagkakaron nito.

So far I'm impressed with ERA100/Diafine, baka nga better substitute for my old fave APX100/Diafine, than Acros 100. Sana may mag pasok regularly ng ERA100 dito.

i stopped using lucky100 dahil ang nipis ng film mapa135/120.. kahit shanghai 120 nipis din ng film.

Manipis na, very curly pa...hirap i handle.

kamusta naman ang buhay ng chems pagkadillute mo sa kanya ilang buwan itatagal?

I mixed a gallon October last year, gave 1/3rd to Joel. Just dumped 1/3rd after 40 rolls and have 1/3rd left which has done about 15 rolls. Diafine has lasted me at least 2 years in the USA. But because it is a 2-bath type, nababawasan yung bath A every time you use it. Once there's not enough solution A to fill a tank then you have to dump everything.

pati pala wala siyang arte sa temp diba?

65-85 degrees Fahrenheit yata recommended sa box....di ko alam sa Celsius.....I may have exceeded 85F during the summer here with no adverse effect. I remember reading old time photographers at P-net stating they process TX400 in Diafine @ 92-95F in Florida during summer.
