Ashy Drongo (Dicrurus leucophaeus) by alabang, on Flickr

Beautiful Ashy Drongo. Nice color, nice long tail, nice eyes. Excellent capture.

It's really sad that the Philippine Government neglected the environment. Here, many areas are designated as refuge for wildlife. Funding is sourced from either the federal government or state government. They are pretty well managed. Areas are designated only for wildlife & people cannot enter. Where the Snow Goose was in Middle Creek was an area that was cordoned off from people. People like us don't cross the wire rope that limits us where to go. Since the Snow Goose feel not threatened they graze even pretty close to where we were & even if the entire area along the wire rope was lined up with people. People are disciplined, no one crosses the perimeter.

I really wish Philippine-based environmentalists understand the difference between the US and the Philippines. They keep insisting on US standards of birding among photographers while the habitat is being decimated, wildlife is poached and hunted to the brink of no return.

People have gone to jail here once found guilty of killing for example an endangered species like the Bald Eagle. The Dept. of Natural Resources puts an announcement for instance that Eastern Bluebirds are getting fewer & it will help if people put up nesting boxes in their yard. Now, the Eastern Bluebirds are abundant. Still people keep on having nesting boxes. I just put up one in my yard.
The other thing is we have a lot of rangers patrolling state parks, wildlife refuges, wetland, etc. Birders & bird photographers are well aware of what they allowed to do & what they can do. We spend a helluva lot of money on making sure to keep the eco balance of the environment. Of course, we also have those crazies but sooner or later they get caught. Close by to my house is Maple Farms where they have cows & turkeys. The authorities caught them with a dead Horned Owl & 2 Turkey Vultures.

Well and good. I hope we do reach that level of development as you guys licked the habitat, hunting and poaching issues.

So onto the next big problem that you listed below

Here environmentalists do the reverse. Tackle the least impactful nuisance and nag them to death cause they know they're basically "talo" on more important issues that really affects the decline of the habitat and fauna.

More interested in generating newspaper clippings to be shown to potential donors/sponsors than anything else.

The zitting cisticola or streaked fantail warbler (Cisticola juncidis), is widely distributed Old World warbler whose breeding range includes southern Europe, Africa (outside the deserts and rainforest), and southern Asia down to northern Australia. A small bird found mainly in grasslands, it is best identified by its rufous rump, lacks any gold on the collar and the brownish tail is tipped with white. During the breeding season, males have a zigzagging flight display accompanied by regular "zitting" calls that has been likened to repeated snips of a scissor. They build their pouch nest suspended within a clump of grass.
