Ultrasone Proline

Postby JackD201 » Sun Feb 26, 2006 9:15 am

Has anyone tried these? There's a dealer in the Philippines yun lang nga I tried looking for their shop but couldn't find it :x

Designed for professionals who use headsets many hours of the day. These are supposed to sound more natural because the transducers fire at the folds of your ears instead of directly into your ear canals. They also supposedly protect the user from hearing damage by giving equivalent sensory stimuli with only 40% of the output energy.

got the ultrasone DJ1 last Friday, it was a blast!. My senns212 blew up due to loud playing. hehe.

initial reviews.
at first I thought it was just all a marketing ploy (surround sound), but when I started auditioning it at their shop it was just jaw dropping. I really dont have very "audiophilic" ears but the ambience of the sound can really be distinguished. It makes you think that you are hearing sounds from speakers and not headphones!

The demo CD is actually some tracks used to highlight their product. Plus its designed to be safer on the ears (less fatiguing) on loud volumes. The cups are also good in sound insulation so you can concentrate more on the mix minus outside noise. Its also very comfortable and can easily stored in a small bag.

Its a totally different experience for me and am very happy with it's customer support (spare parts can be ordered via their exclusive dealership in QC). Abit pricey but I think the safe advantage is one factor I considered heavily. Sound is also topnotch. Cant wait to have it broken in. They also carry headphones for audiophile listeners.

All their units can be auditioned at their Quezon City office for free. Try em out! First time ko rin pumunta dun..you wont miss it kasi landmark is the "Pegasus".
Their office numbers are 3741737, look for Mr. Laban Chua.
drop my name then ask for discount. Hehe :-)

Kaya naman pala eh! I was searching the wrong side of Quezon Ave.

Thanks for the feedback bro but alas too late  I picked up a pair of Panasonic DJ100 cheapos in Japan and tey were great for mixing because the highs are rolled off the bass is boomy and the mids are exagerated  These are NOT gonna win any awards :lol2:

I picked it up in a hurry because my wife broke my trusty Koss cans and the ancient pioneers I was using were making me look like a moley mf because the ear pads were shedding.

My real replacement cans are on the way I ended up buying the Technics 1210 headphones online (black para terno sa 1210 M5G ) . Sound quality was not a concern for me. The Senn HDs I bought from racio do fine for serious, but very rarely done, Can listening sessions.

My main reason I was considering the Ultrasones was for the detachable/replaceable cord. We all know that the cord is always the first friggin thing to break down. The Technics had these so I went with it.

Nice choice sir! I was also considering the Technics, (and also the Sony MDR's and Pioneers) pero I cant find anybody selling it locally. Since Im in panic mode because my senss broke I decided to go Ultrasones. It turned out I made a good decision since I havent heard bad reviews about it on the net. :-)

Technics I heard have nicer bass than the other cans. Goodluck at balitaan mo kami sa tunog nyan :-)

cheers!

i'm really interested in the safety features of the headphones.. thinking of getting the hfi-15g cause it's the only one in my budget (kinda stretching it though.. ok na siguro hd497 but the ultrasones would probably be better for extended listening ?

aron, it's 3820.. any discount there ?

Oh wow, I didn't know Ultrasone phones are available locally. Do they also have the ED9s in stock? I just want to check and listen if they do live up to all the fuss some head-fiers have been raging about.
