This is a unique headphone for the ipod nano...

http://www.macally.com/spec/ipod/mtunen.html

It is touted as a wireless headphone for the nano. wireless talaga.

I got a white Senn px100. I am very happy with my buy!

There was a px200 available too. But I was told that the px100 delivers better bass response.

nice buy! the two models do not sound alike partly because they are of different types. the px100 is an open phone, while the px200 is a sealed phone.

Thanks! Was curious about the "sealed" feature of the 200. The 200 is quite small and doesnt really "seal" unlike bigger phones :)

How do the 200s sound?

Actually, I opted for the 100 since the price diff was substantial.

it has been a while since i listened to the px200, so i can't really recall how it sounded.

as for it's seal, it doen't offer much isolation, although i read that the technique is proper placement. it does quite a good job in preventing sound from leaking out, though. :)

The px100 is very similar to the px200 except that it has emphasis on bass. I find the px100 too boomy though that it muddies the midrange. The px200, which I have, has good definition and tight bass. But it lacks in the lows department.

For this series I find midranges to be too pronounced. As such it becomes too forward (if that is possible at all for headphones). The highs are a bit brittle too. Veiled. Unamped, it's liveable. But plug this to a good amp and it becomes lively but your ears will start to hurt from the treble. I suspect, it was biased as such for the unamped portable crowd. It also lacks attack and dynamics. A function perhaps of its low impedance and low power applications.

For the unamped Ipod, these cans are among the decent phones around. Bettered only by its bigger siblings like the hd497, the Grados and low impedance IEMs like the Shure E2C, Etymotic ER6iP, Altec IM616, and perhaps the Senn CX300.

thanks for sharing your insights between the px100 and px200, gino.

i've tried an hd497, unamped with the shuffle, and the sound, though not exactly great, is more than satisfactory.

hi guys. new poster here. :)
nice to know that we have a local audiophile forum.

as for myself, im into portables :D
my portable rig right now is an iRiver U10 paired with a Panasonic HJE70 and Sennheiser CX300. I only had the HJE70 for only a month and now the upgrade itch is there again. :D

im a basshead so i think Shures (E4 and below) and especially Etymotics wont suit my needs.
targeting for a UE Super.fi 5 Pro or EB for my next IEM :D

thanks for the welcome. thanks also to choariwap for introducing the site to me.

about the amp, i dont think i have plans on getting one for portable use. ive always wanted my rig to be light and small enough to fit my front pocket which is why i opted for the iRiver U10. :D
i also read that the pana hje70/senn cx300 and the super.fis wont really benefit from an amp due to their low impedance.

@ dranoel4190

agree that superfis dont benefit much from an amp, but its not just a matter of impedance. some phones just do, and some dont, regardless of nominal impedance.

amps arent necessarily big, http://www.fixup.net/products/index.htm
the supermicro is just as big as two AAAs side by side!

hehe.. upgrade time, e500 maybe? or the upcoming triple.fi? :)

dranoel4190, if you want your rig to be light and small enough to fit your pocket, you can still get an amp. try a cmoy, meta, or something similar. :D

welcome to wiredstate! :D

My bro's Audio Technica in-ears phones are pretty decent. I do not know the price , but he said it costs far less than the Altec IM716. That sold for P6800. He got his in Canada. It should be available online somewhere.

Stay away from Sony in-ears. The cord melts into a sticky goo as if the rubber is expriing.

maybe he has the AT CK7. they say it has the same sound signature of the Etymotics. i think its somewhere around $70-90 + shipping

i hope we can educate portable users locally that there are a whole lot of better earphones out there besides the stock earbuds. they spend a lot on their mp3 players (P15-20k) but they refuse even spending more than P1k on their earphones :)
in a way itll also be beneficial to all since well have tons of options locally on the earphone dept :D

possibly bet. 2.5-5k. But i can stretch beyond that , would like to get a IEM that comfortably sits in your ear after prolonged hours of use. Ordinary earphones are way to uncomfortable after long use, but PX100's naman despite their comfort feature cannot drive your mp3 player to a louder volume. So hopefully IEM would be a godd option.

at that price range, you are looking at senn cx300, shure e2, creative ep630.

only shure iems are readily available locally as far as i know. you can buy them online and have them shipped, expect 10 - 20% customs fee on top of the shipping cost.

usps priority airmail has been pretty reliable, so is EMS. buying online is quite ok as long as you are sure of your purchase.
