budget?

may isa pa eh... yung earphones that come with the Creative mp3 players... particularly the Creative Muvo V200 (1GB)... very good quality as far as earphones are concerned... ewan ko lang if they sell it separately.

parang kaka re-stock lang nila ng senn px100s sa Tower Records at Music One... so just go to any branch of those stores and malamang makaka-kita ka dun...

It's along the stretch where O Music Store is located.

sana swak sa budget mo yung px100s ;)

Curious lang ako fuseboxx. Can an iPod really drive a headphone (coil) to a good acceptable volume? i never tried it kasi sa headphone. tingin ko lang, iPod is effecient only for an earphone. thanks bro.

Calling the experts!

I've used the Senn Px100s and the earphones that come with the Creative Muvo V200, at mas malakas talaga ang labas ng Creative earphones. I don't know if it has something to do with what you were asking, pero mas mahina nga ang volume ng Px100s comapred to that earphone. Ewan ko lang if it applies in general or for mp3 players lang...

Audiogeek, yes - the iPod can drive even the PX100. For earphones, usually mas madali silang i-drive. Me ofcmate kami ni fuseboxx na gumagamit ng PX100 for his i-Pod.

fuseboxx, kahit siguro yung MP3 player mo e kayang-kaya ang PX100 :D

I recently heard the iRiver H10 with my Grado SR80 - wow! :D

Yup I can attest that the i-pod can drive the px100 well (though volume control would be set at past the halfway mark)

... but Im not the dog's officemate :D

I use the Shure E2c earphones with my iPod. Fantastic sound, good noise isolation, custom fit. You can find them on-line for about P3000. Someone here found them at one of the malls lately too

The Shure earphones LOOK amazing! WOW... where in the Phil are they available. Kinda expensive huh for an ipod earphone. Are they worth it?

I have tried many earphones - the Shures are definitely worth every cent.

I have also tried many headphones and would say that you can't go wrong with the Sennheiser PX100 (open) or PX200 (closed)

fusebox,
the relative difference in levels is due to the sensitivity variance between the cans you've been using. If you can drive the cans to sufficient levels without permanent injury and without distortion (aka still sounding good), then the mp3 player has the capability.
cheers,

I use Sony MDR EX-51 which I bought from a guy over at Philmug. Got them for Php2.5k. I'm pretty happy with it compared to the stock earphones. They're white too so they look like the stock ones. Haven't compared this though with others mentioned in this thread. YMMV.

Saw Shure e2c at the apple center at mega mall just the other day. I didn't ask how much they were selling them for.

Happy hunting.

Breaking in an E4c now. A PX100 is in my wife's maleta--pang work-out. :D

For comfort the Shure can't hold a candle to both my HD495 and HD600. But for sound isolation, walastik!

Some quibbles...I can hear myself breathe, I can hear my muscles and bones as they strike the keyboard, this will take a bit more getting used to. I don't like to think what it would feel / sound like if I sneeze, cough, or a-hem, give into a little flatulence.

The various flanges that come with the unit...ang lalaki! Siguro mga elepante yung sinukatan ng Shure when they spec'ed these. :D

Haven't tried it with my headphone amp though...so far, puro Creative MuVo at PC lang.

Gau Ban,

What do you folks use to rip?

I just downloaded and (incompletely) configured EAC...di pa ako nag-pipick-up ng track info from online databases. I'll be keeping WAV for now for the hard drive and compressing using LAME for the MP3 player. I've also downloaded Monkey Audio but I'm reading FLAC is the best lossless compressor.

Am I doing this right? Any pointers would help greatly. Cheers!

Since going analog, I don't really buy CDs anymore hence the lack of ripping. Mostly I download direct from the iTunes music store in AAC. Excellent sound quality. I hooked up the Airport extreme to my main system and believe it or not the sound is more than acceptable. Sometimes I prefer it to CDs on the Tascam/Levinson Digital Front End.

When I do rip, I just use iTunes.
