That's 16Gig per chip. Now if you stack 2 chips, you can get a capacity of 32Gig. If you stack 8, your IPOD can have a capacity of 128Gig. Theoretically, the next gen IPOD can have as much as 320Gig of music! I think that's more than most people need.

With these new HIGH CAPACITY NANDflash chips, some people see the beginning of the END of HARD DRIVES.

Thanks hein for the info. I guess I will wait for the higher capacity flash-based ipods before for my next upgrade. I have this case of bad timing lagi kasi eh. Three weeks after I got my 3rd Gen, Apple released the 4gen. 4 weeks after my wife got the U2 special edition Steve Jobs decided to release the colored edition. When will Apple stop releasing quarterly updates!!!! :?

an inside look on whats on the inside of the nano:

seems that opamp used for this baby is LMH6645 (top right corner):

a poor choice considering it has low output at 20mA and noise is too high (17V/rtHz)

anyone compared its sound (headphone out) vs the shuffle?

Don't know if it's already been mentioned here (didn't see it when I read through quickly) but I read somewhere that the MP3 decoder chip/DA converter is not the same on all iPods. Supposedly, there are versions of the iPod that sound a bit better than others. When I find the link I'll post it here.
