I'm looking at the E4C for use with my Creative Zen muVo MP3 player. I'll be going on a long trip in a few days and I'd like the isolation from airplane and airport noise as well as decent music.

Cheers!

i haven't heard the e4c, but i got to try the e2c for a few minutes. i have two main observations.

the first is they are quite difficult to position. if they are not in the ideal position, they don't sound good.

the second is, they are not too comfortable. it might be due to the shape of my ear canal, though.

I have the E2c and would not live without them!!! Excellent sound with near-perfect flat response and very good isolation. You have a choice of foam or silicon ear inserts for comfort. Highly recommended. If you can get the E4c at a good price, even better.

I have a pair of E3cs which i bought for travel too. They really keep things quiet in an airplane. The proof is the volume on my ipod is half of what it would be on ordinary earphones and about two thirds of that with close backed headphones like my sniff sniff wife demolished Koss. The only problem is while packing for the trip home I misplaced the custom fitting pack and have had to use the pre-installed buds. Needless to say comfort is not what they could be and sound shifts everytime the buds shift in my mutant ear canals. When in the right position though they sound very good.

...naku...ganyan pala ang mga ear buds...kelangan mag-match sa ear canal ng user! :)

i'm seeing it online fo US$200...it's about US$250 here in Dubai...I guess after FEDEX and taxes (who says duty free ang Dubai? di totoo yun), ganun na din yun...

matawaran pa nga...

i read somewhere that you can actually ask the local ear clinic to custom make the right "fittings" for you. :)

to the shure users...do you use it with a headphone amp or direct from your portable player?

I use mine direct from the iPod - would like to try one of those Headroom airhead amps someday but am pretty happy with the way things are now

A good on-line source is Earplugstore (http://www.earplugstore.com) -their discounts are the best I've seen. They offer custom fit kits too

I have a pair of E3cs too Jack. Ano ba yung "custom fitting pack"? I use the foam inserts of which I have several spares. If that's what you lost, I can give you a pair from my spares.

Hi Dante,

di ba the spares are color coded? Yellow, etc. Those aren't actually spares. They are different sizes. If your standard Greys are a perfect fit I would appreciate your pamana pare :D BTW how are the boys doing? Break-in na ba? ;)

Jack, I don't use the grays so you can have the pair you need. Small, medium, or large? :)
The boys are doing fine, Jack. Upgrading to a tube CDP by next week. Early Christmas present to myself. Hehehe.

Okay. They're yours! Did you try the yellow foam thingies? I have a lot of those and I find them to be the most comfortable. You compress them by squeezing with your fingers, then they expand to fit your ear canal very snugly and comfortably. Disposable pa, so low maintenance. So, when do you want them? :0

OT: Sure thing. I'll let you know when my Njoe toy arrives. Ah! Hehehe.

using my e2c's direct to my ipod nano, pretty good mids and highs, bass depends on proper positioning, though i listen mostly to vocals and light jazz.

It was hot enough, Jack. And she had a trenchcoat to give the shoot more interest. :)
So, when do you want the gray buds? :)
