Do you want passive or active cancellation?

Active usually uses a battery powered mechanism to cancel out the noise outside. Passive no devices, usually with the use of ear plugs the best example would be an IEM :)

At the budget you stated, ito pasok sya.

I haven't heard this headphone though so I can't say much about sound quality, you might want to read some reviews on this model before ordering it :)

these entry level Noise canceller transducers used to be expensive years ago... around US$98.00??... i got my 1st unit at Best Buy at a promo price... 2nd unit i got at LAX airport reseller/store... maybe intense competition forced Sony to offer these at a more attractive price point... however, i noticed Sony still sells the smallish models (in-ear units) at higher price point :(

performance: one alkaline AAA (not AA as i erroneously mentioned) battery will last around 18 hours of use which is very good for long hours of air travel... noise cancelling quite effective... we enjoyed more music (and movie sound) than airplane engine noise...

amazon sells these at much lower price these days ...

1. For the Senn, you have 2 choices, the HD650 and the HD600 :)

2. Haven't seen a Nuforce Icon locally :) The K701 is really hard to drive btw :)

3. How much is it selling for? :)

The NuForce Icon mobile doesn't have enough juice to drive the AKG701. You need a decent dedicated headphone amp to power this beast. Examples would include the Talisman T-3H, Stello HP100, Grace M902, Lavry DA10, Apogee Mini-DAC, SPL Phonitor, Sugden Bijou Headmaster and the Benchmark DAC1..

^^

Just going back to the K701 there - are the amps you mentioned available locally?

What would be the best bang for the buck dedicated amp for the K701? (That's available locally)

Or Amp + DAC (USB) combo?

Thanks.

I have the 701s and they're my second favourite headphones after the Stax electrostatics. I like them better than the Sennheiser 650s but can't compare with the 800s because I can't afford those just yet. They need lots of power to reach their full potential, so would go solid-state rather than tube... Sorry I realise I'm not answering your question but I just wanted to rave about these cans. I use them with a Creek OBH11 but they could use better :)
