eh... are you looking for an adaptor?

Radioshack has some gold plated ones. I would suggest calling them up first or ordering from them if they have none at the moment.

made a headphone cable using a quantum microphone cable...well what can I say, midrange changed from a little fuzzy at times to near transparent. vocals sound much better now. there are still some hints of sibilance but not as obvious as before and the bass is more defined but still boomy(which is ok since I use these cans for gaming and listening to hiphop and dance) still for me there is noticeable improvement from the stock cable :D

The pleasure at the absolute music benefit becomes now still larger: The new hp 650 of microphone and headphone specialist Sennheiser will shift each sound purists in enthusiasm. With it each oscillation becomes experiencable, the sound alive, the room the concert hall.

For many years the name Sennheiser stands for highest sound quality. Already with the success model the innovative enterprise from the Wedemark in the proximity of Hanover specialized technical and HiFi fans impressed hp 600: Four times lent the readers of the audio magazine to the hp 600 the honor "golden ear".

The new hp 650 extends now the Top segment by further headphone in open, dynamic building method. It sets more than the hp 600 on Expressivitaet and emotion. Thus a dynamic listener of the absolute top class is available now with the hp 650, which the delicate High end fan of the arts of the electrostatic Orpheus reminds. With this noble headphone/amplifier combination, which was built in a limited edition by only 300 pieces, Sennheiser set according to unanimous expert opinion to today the absolute Bestmarke.

With the hp 650 the perfect sound is now experiencable for everyone. On the search for still better dynamic headphone Sennheiser discussions with High end specialists, sound engineers and specialized journalists led. Also InterNet forums were drawn to rate. Realization from this intensive search: The hearing habits changed. Humans want to feel music today more than analyzing. Thus developed the concept headphone, to which the music lover by its aliveness into the spell pulls, without doing without thereby on highest rendition precision.

The hp 650 is headphone with soul? and therefore Sennheiser gave it depth within the bass range and pleasantly natural heights also on the life way. The transmission range covers frequencies from 10 to 39,500 cycles per second. A more sophisticated total transmission loss and a resonance-decreased, consolidated fleece reduce the Nachschwingungen of the diaphragm and make such a still more exact klangbild possible, particularly within the bass range. Also the being correct rendition is extremely authentic. A particularly developed acoustic silk with precise continuous absorption lowers the distortion factor on fantastic 0.05% (1 kHz).

Music lovers can look forward to narrow-tolerated, handselected in pairs systems. The outside appearance headphone lets the hearts silver /titanfarbenen with its noble surface organization more highly to strike.

The supervisory board chairman of the enterprise, his indication professor of the electroacoustics, Professor Dr. Joerg Sennheiser is proud on the new development: "the hp 650 is not simply headphone? it represents our philosophy and our requirement to come the natural sound as close as possible."

No Mods

Postby rajan » Sat Nov 15, 2003 8:36 am

I do not know if there is a cable mod available for the 497 but in answer to your other queries:

1. shorter cable - again same as above but you can purchase a cord manager from Radio Shack where you can wind the long cord (p/n 43-2011). If they do not have it locally, I think you can order them and the store will arrange for you.

2. 1/4" jack - again at radio shack you can get an adaptor

This may not be exactly what you want but my suggestions are workarounds.

thanks for your inputs, rajan. actually, i'm using the adaptor that came with my senn. one reason why i asked is that i just want to experiment with other types of cables. i also think that using a 1/4-inch jack instead of an adaptor provides better contact. am i right?

thanks.

p.s. what about a diy cable? have zero experience in diy projects, however. any idea how difficult (or easy) would it be?

hehe, ikaw pa.

di ko matiis so i did a quick comparison between sr-80 and px-100 [straight from the pcdp]. px-100 is really heavy on the bass. sr-80's midrange/treble is better pero di napahiya ang px-100. this could get very interesting. will post again after a week siguro 8)

dogears, can't really remember at what point the sound first improved. but i think they got fully broken in after about 100 hours (rough estimate).

px-100 not that far behind from the sr-80's mids and treble? haven't heard either, but considering their prices, it should be interesting. do post your comments when you have the time.

thanks and have fun breaking in your new cans.

I just realized that PX100 is almost half the price of SR80 :P I hope the sound would be worth more than I paid for [using SR80 as base] and I wish I have a [decent] HP amp to check how far it could deliver

dogears, bass of px100 = REL? wow! does that mean that you don't like your sr80 anymore? akin na lang.

kidding aside, i'm glad that your enjoying your px100. somehow, i have a feeling that it would even sound better once it is fully broken in. by the way, how do you find the mids and highs?
