try the grado 325 or the sennheiser 595. not too sure if the latter is still locally available, though.

Audio-Technica ATH-AD900 for an open-backed headphone. Or the ATH-A900 for a closed headphone.

For what you want, ATH-AD900 would probably be better.

Just remembered. The AKG K-701 can be had at your price range.

Sennheiser RS 180 wireless audiophile headphones with Kleer technology. Sounds as good as wired audiophile headphones with no hissing, no noise and no dropouts.

I'd just like to clarify my previous post. At Amazon.com, there are resellers who are offering steep discounts on the AKG K700 series. Good if you have friends or kamaganak on the way home.

@prof, actually isa lang uubra na sa akin eh :)

@rossifumi, sorry chief - am not really familiar with most of them. You can check headphone.com or head-fi for impressions.

from headphone.com:
Denon D2000 (USD349): In the AH-D2000, musical textures are tightly defined and ultra-vivid, the soundstage image is deeply expansive, instrumental separation is clear as a bell, and the timbral precision is eye-openingly impressive. Overall, it's got a pleasingly forward image presentation with silky clean punch both high & low and a tremendously musical, highly involving soundscape.

Sennheiser HD 600 (already at USD399) is also worth checking.

If you could stretch your budget a bit, the sound sig you're looking for is right up the alley of my Grado HF-2 which I plan to sell, Rossifumi46. Just posted them in the trade section. :)

Thanks Moi for directing me here pre. ;)
