Humidity

Postby Octaver » Thu Sep 08, 2011 11:27 am

Humidity can cause trouble on our Precious system!
It can make our system Life expectancy shorten especially our Speaker cones!
Most of our listening room airconditionings are not open 24hrs just to maintain good humidity inside the room.
People on the High altitude areas are prone with this Humidity, if you see any discoloration on your speaker cone surface, most likely they are cause by Humidity, molds are building up!!

I just want to share my Cheap Discovery on this but it really helps my room Humidity Low and avoid too much moisture. This thing cost me Php 88 for the set of four.
Take a look on the picture as you can see there is water in the container which is collected on my room, originally the inside is just a powder thing.....
I put four in my room and one in my Car as I'm not using car perfumes (this to maintain the scent of the new car  )

I've used one before. It really works. and it really sucks in moisture and after a period of time you'll start to notice water collecting at the bottom. I got it from Robinson's ermita, hardware section. I think there are three or four brand choices.

Yes, this works, specially for small enclosed spaces. Just replace them when they get soaked/saturated over time.

As far as i know those these dehumidifiers are calcium chloride.

Very easy to buy and very cheap, just a sample:

http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/118 ... oride.html

Company Name: Robert International
Street Address: duling street
City: Manila
Province/State: Manila
Country/Region: Philippines
Zip: 1018
Telephone: 63-6-9550306

Or you could use salt, sodium chloride, but calcium chloride is better.

From wise geek:

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-calcium-chloride.htm

One of the several different forms of salt, calcium chloride is a solid that is capable of absorbing a great deal of liquid. There are many different uses for this type of salt, including such diverse applications as removing ice from roadways to preserving commercially canned foods. While helpful in many ways, consumption of large amounts of calcium chloride can lead to a great deal of gastronomical distress.
