I'm sure you'll find a better sound in the British monitors. My take is they have a complete(r) sound than most. That space thing. A treble that does not shout or separate from the woofers that they often call attention to. Many a speakers are like that. And if it's metal, it can sound metallic, too bare and hot on details. I'm sure your turny will sound more forgiving and musical as oppose to merciless accuracy. If it is only a matter of accuracy, I'm afraid one may lose the touch and feel of things which is what music is really all about no matter what others say.

Wish you the best in your new search.

Thanks, appreciate your comments likewise and here goes the search. What you stated is exactly correct, it was getting to sound metallic to me.

I've heard enough french sound to say that. JMR, and same brand you owned.

Just be careful with the Harbeths when partnering. I know they go well with ss than tubes. Atleast from this side of the pond as I heard them with different amps. Rich Harkness, if you search the AA a little on Harbeths said the same thing about harbeths. The spendors are more forgiving due to an earlier roll down I believe than the metal tweeters used by some harbeth models. Any how, you might consider an LS as well for some intimate nearfield listening on top of your grand speakers of choice. It won't leave the music behind I'm sure from such a small box.

Cheers.

Hi Amplifine,
There is a 126 MKII on ebay now, you may be interested.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Thorens-TD-126-MK-I ... dZViewItem
If you copy and paste and it don't work search for item no. 5796747965.
I'm being tempted as I can pick this up, Wilmington, DE is just next state and can be there in an hour. If you are going for it let me know, you go ahead.
Cheers.

In this case, "it's listen with your eyes!"

Its owner will definitely have more bragging rights to this. What's this acrylic or polycarbonate?

This is the equivalent of the old Stainless Steel Rolex Daytona. One per authorized Thorens dealer. Very limited production = Rare and a bit more expensive. Based on a TD320 :) Chasing chasing

that is a real beauty! i suppose this model now leans towards the analytical rather than musical? what's the tonearm on this baby? it doesn't look like a stock arm.

The way it looks it is a stock arm. Don't know the model of the arm, maybe MSM would know.

With that squarish armbase (black) it looks like a Thorens arm too. Baka its a bit modified or something, to go with the special edition theme.

That's what I thought too. Only the headshell front part looks different from the other headshells in the stock arms.
