Is There Already a Portable SACD Player?

I'm thinking of getting a portable player to take around when travelling. Is a portable SACDP already available?

Also, any recommendation for a portable CD player?

rtsy, hope you won't mind sharing this thread of yours with me.

i've decided to go for portability over sound quality, so i'm in the hunt for a portable as well. from what i've read at www.head-fi.org, older models, in general are better than the current ones, both in headphone output and line output. problem is, almost all of the portables available here are the newer ones, which most of the people head-fi find less desirable than the portables manufactured in the 90s. most of today's portables (panasonics, in particular) also lack the line output that i want, as well.

anyone here can suggest which among the current portables is the best buy?

I believe there's still no market for portable SACD players. Why?

1. SACD was *initially* intended for audio enthusiasts, as a niche market.
2. Of course, SACD is planned to eventually grow to replace CD, but that will take time.
3. MP3 is still master of portability.
4. Not many people demand high-end sound and portability at the same time.
5. The difference between SACD vs. CD is not as obvious as MP3 vs. CD, especially on noisy outdoors.
6. Even audiophiles prefer to listen critically at home, not outdoors.

I'm here in S.Korea and visiting one of the world's largest manufacturer of consumer electronics (LG). According to this client, the only portables available are DVD players - very nice & high quality, though not 'audiophile-grade... SACD is not yet in their drawing board, though already considered.
