I would like to hear from anyone who had already used this new computing platform, your thoughts and experiences on this regard will be highly appreciated. TIA :)

It is based on the UBUNTU distro of Linux.
I haven't tried Joli OS but I did use UBUNTU for quite a spell and I loved it compared to the other major distros like OpenSUSE, Mandriva, or Fedora.

Being Linux, it will give you some challenges, especially in using command lines (like the old DOS) and those 'strange' words like 'tar', sudo, gedit, and other goobledegooks :) .
