5th Ave is on sale (until today or tomorrow I think). You might be able to grab a 650C if you buy now (25.8k SRP). It's an excellent player at 25k, and a wonderful bargain at the sale price.

Of course, listen to it first if it suits your taste. Good luck! :)

with your budget I would shop for an excellent DAC then buy an LG DVD player to use as transport.

The usual suspects in the budget arena are:

NAD
Cambridge Audio. The 550C might be in your price range. The major difference between this and the 650C is that the 650C uses 2 DACs.
Tangent Audio:
Harman Kardon:
Denon

I'm partial to Cambridge cause I love the Wolfson DAC.

Look for an NAD521BEE dude. It packs enough performance to satisfy the "budget audiophile".

^ compared Playstation SCPH-1001 & SCPH-5501.

Though the 5501 does not have any RCA out, it sounded pretty much the same as the 1001. :P

After a search in the net. I discovered the 5501 uses the same DAC as the 1001. :!:

Either way, they're both good buys.

The 650C was below 20k during the sale afaik, which is within the range you quoted. It's now back to normal pricing.

The 550C's SRP is 20.8k.

Hi. How is this (the connections) done with a generic CD player? Thanks.
