Didn't know this was even possible. Tried it with a Xiaomi Mi3 > Super Pro 707 DAC using a generic OTG cable. Worked out of the box. Google Play music app sounded better than Xiaomi's default music app since the latter had built in equalization and boosted the bass.
I tried HibyMusic and it's decent sounding. It has a LAN feature which allows you to access shared windows partitions. Very useful if you store music files in a NAS. Haven't used it for an extended period and I have managed to crash it once already.
i havent tried but i think that's one of the protocol of the otg. although i havent seen one, there are otg cables with power inlet provision so you can plug to outlet or powerbank for power supply.
Regarding storage limitations, Hibymusic will play files from windows shares or shared hard drives in the home network. A NAS is nice to have in such a setup.
Pwede ba daisy chain a drive to the otg with the dac?
Newer android can access bigger memory anyhow. Notes 4 has 32gb internal + 132gb sd. Some with thousand records library plays at most 10 lps only anyhow hehe
Dati I use Foobar sa PC to play music, output via USB to Musiland DAC. When I got my android, there's an app sa android where you can control the Foobar of your PC. So nangyari was android device lang ang remote mo. That way, i can access all the files sa PC ko plus yun mga nasa netrwork pa.
