I haven't read the article extensively but it looks like you can find tips there for building a cabinet for your 406.

Thanks Joseph, I've downloaded all I can for Altec cabinets. I have a Q though on the 614 cabinet that you made.

What is that diagonal dotted line on the left most drawing for? The middle drawing does not show it.

All the "diagonals and horizontal" are braces, I used a 1" x 2" [sides, back and front bracing] The "dotted" horizontal is for the front baffle while the diagonal is for the back.
