Hi Paul/Doc Lito,

TD124? Here's an idea...

Paul- You & I are in BIG 3-ARM TROUBLE!!!

JE- It just so happens I'm restoring a Thorens 124 MK2. I just have to build a plinth for it. You aren't being helpful...more of a BI! Seriously, I've been contemplating a 2-arm rig,...but a 3-armed monster?!!!

It's so easy to do, why did i wait so long?
Of course i have not really spent any money yet so improvements will have to wait until after Christmas.........cart, arm, amp, IC.....where will it end?

I feel like i have left the rat race of the highway and am now wandering down a leafy country lane, smelling the roses in the pub garden, drinking a cool pint of cider while munching (monching??) on a sausage sandwich. Music makes you lose sense of time or should that be losing my mind? Or i am just enjoying the simple pleasure of mono.

Hey Lito

Confirmed TT - Lenco 88.
Desired arms - Mono and Stereo. A mono woody, an Ortofon........
Plinth design - still in my head

Cheers!

Cult! Cult! Cult!

Now is the time to buy, an 88 sold on eBay for $710 this week :D More than double the price of 18 months ago!
A friend of mine has had a 75 in an original Dynatron plinth for about 3 years, very happy with it, he paid about $20!

Kabub's, only the 88 is mine. The photo is supposed to be mine but is taken from the ebay listing. I have not seen it yet but my dad says it looks identical, clean, no dustbug mark etc.

I posted the photo of the 99 because i like the symmetry of the layout

Hi Paul,

Very nice model! I've been looking for an 88 or 99 but they are hard to find in N. America. If you are going to use a UK/European model here make sure you have access to a 60hz shaft. I don't think the 50hz conical shaft works here. For more info check out http://www.lenco-lovers.com!

Hello Joseph

This one is destined for Malaysia so no voltage or frequency problem.
Prices are going up now, 88's are on ebay a few times per month. I cannot remember the last time i saw a 99 on ebay, they seem very rare!
If only i had purchased a few years ago when they were still in the $10-$30 price range :(

Perhaps we should think about buying up the cheap Rek-O-Kuts and Commonwealth's before their prices go sky high???

Lito   My intention is to limit it to 2 arms, perhaps i will make the plinth large enough for 3
Please advise, why do i need 3 arms during an economic crisis???

The 3rd arm could pay for the amp and cartridge............

They were early (B60/L70 era) models offered as an alternative to the TD124 and late 301/401.

ROKs still seem affordable on US eBay. I don't know if the Commonwealth or the Orpheus Silex can easily/affordably be converted to 60hz for local users.

I paid ~$70/shipped for this Grommes "Little Jewel" PP6V6 8W integrated and it was even "plug'n play" :o Plenty of power for your 201, then add a DL102 ($150-200) and your set to enjoy!
