There is a connection between our beloved audio hobby and the recent Hostage Crisis and it is the Emerald Restaurant. I was wondering where is this Emerald Restaurant where the top government officials oversaw and managed the crisis.
Finally it came to me, the magnificent 7 established the first editon of the Philippine Audio Society in this same restaurant long ago.
The event was sponsored by Mr Kim Puey and Mr. Fernando Sy.
The other cast members were: Willie Cojuangco, Peter Wong, Philip Chua, Mr Joson [Gerry's brother] and yours truly Lito Gelano.
That group grew in numbers to include among others: Jerry Kaimo, Boy Bustamante, and Dr Castro.
Unfortunately it later splintered to a new faction, the Tuesday Club.
Nowadays the Philippine Audio Society still continues with the group of Peter Wong and J. R. of the Listening room.
Condolence to them for losing a prominent member, the old Mr Uy, a gracious man with impeccable taste of audio gear.
Well this society and other affiliates should have a reunion at Emerald to acknowledge the founders while they are still with us.
Happy listening!
