PART 3- The BIG SuperSystems( B&W800, Rowland Model 8)

Postby jadis » Sat Jul 31, 2004 12:29 pm

Being
a dedicated music room, there is no WAF (wife acceptance factor)
to worry about. All 4 sides and ceiling has been sprayed with fiber
wool ( theatre and concert hall type) and he has diffusors and abfusors
combined. And DIY tube traps to control the mammoth 800's bass
wrath. Amp is the Rowland Model 8, pre-amp a Jadis JP-80MC (although
he posseses no MC), source by ML, DAC35 and Tranport No.31. Bi-wired
XLO signatures, Magnan interconnects.

No, Vintage Dog. This is different. The son in the father-son
tandem had Krell KSA-250 amp and front end was by EAD. Though
he has 800s too. The father, meanwhile, has the Genesis II and Krell
monoblocks then, but now has Halcro monos. I should be able visit
him one day too. His would be Part 6. ( Looks like we might never
end this series) :)

Oh, that is a digital voltage indicator. Like plugged to the wall, it
lets you know your wall voltage, like 219, 225, or 250 (call Meralco ).
Mr Lim even put this small thing on a STAND---I told you this guy is
dedicated......

hi zach,

I wouldn't know where they exactly got the idea to position those diffusor panels
at the speakers' side and back, but I know that the entire idea was started by a certain
doctor who commissioned a furniture maker to construct the RPG diffusor panels and pasted
them all over his room. In a short while, most of his audiophile friends followed by asking
this furniture maker to make theirs too, all around their rooms. I personally put one wide
panel behind my listening chair only.
