Listened to more LPs till the kids had to yank me out to watch a blu ray movie. Nimbus Mountain Dance, drum whacks, percussion are so much more defined, specially on the last cut of side 2 - Either Way. And Toots Thielmanns' Contrast album was awesome. Instruments are more robust, thicker, with incredible focus. The whistling of Toots is eerily real. My kids had to yank me a second time.

Good thing there is no audio product named RABID. The wife would be worried. :D

Pare, I think that's a bouncy bouncy Townshend, with a sidewinder sling oil bath. Arm should be a Rega, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks Bud. :) I've seen the 19Mk II morphed into a MKIV and then saw so many mouth watering TNTs (including yours) and HRXs in that span, but I think destiny pointed me to this singing Diva. :)

And it should look like this, with a matulis na headshell and an oil rig arm. :) I'm not too sure if this is the actual model in the Subterranean Lair bec as I said, it's always dark down there, like the Bat Cave. The Townshend TT:

Interesting to note, that in 1987, when the VPI 19 landed in my house, nobody offered me any upgrade on the pulley, the motor, or a second tonearm. AT LEAST NOT IN THE FIRST 2 WEEKS. :D Today, nearing the age of the zombies war and end times, I get a new table, and already I'm getting hints of a second tonearm when I actually have NOT even ordered a set of metal rods and metal arm plate for the 2nd tonearm. And I get tempted to 'upgrade' to a double belt pulley, maybe an SP power supply and now I'm even bugged by thoughts of an suspended air platform. All these in a couple of weeks. :o :D And even more interesting, I seem to actually LIKE these ideas. :D Is it me or just the signs of the times? :?:

Thanks db10. You've got a good point there. :) Though i am one who relishes the cake and eats it slowly. Upgrading may be like a 'jubilee cycle' to me.

Congrats Philip I think the best way to go is the SP upgrade no need for air suspension platform

Thanks Teddy. :) And thanks for the heads up on the SP upgrade. Hans mentioned that earlier here, and when I get there, I'll cross the bridge (meaning, I'll ask the price). The SP control for speed negates the need to pull down the belt to the lower groove 45 rpm pulley, hence the double belt for both speeds is a nifty idea. THE FUTURE SEEMS BRIGHT.

THE DIVA GETS A 'COAT'...

The other day, Senor Sensible sent me a package.

Image

Inside is an original Avid acrylic dust cover. Wooohooo!  Who says they don't make dust covers no more?
The Diva gets a 'coat', dapat lang naman, baka magalos. And at night, we have to cover the entire thing with a silk blanket. I can hear the Diva saying to the acrylic cover: "YOU....COMPLETE ME." :inlove:

As an Avid fan, we dig into its Facebook page, and this one seems interesting. 8)

Image

Caption read: "I said change the vinyl, not change into it !!!!" :D :D

And comments:

"Virgin vinyl? Probably not..."

"neither 180 gr as well!!"

"More than 180g per side."

"silicon suspension" :o

No wonder I love 'suspension', unconsciously, btw.
