MINIMAX LINE STAGE - LITTLE DAVID READIES HIS SLINGSHOT... Now that the new toy is in the rack, might as well shoot some pics.
The unit is laughably small. Cute. In my teens I probably could lift it with 2 fingers.
Measures a mere 4 inch deep by 11.5 inch wide.
Tube complement: 2 ECC82s. No need for matched pair, as the right one the input and the left is a follower if I read the reports correctly, and 1 tube rectifier, 6X4.
I love the huge, plump, round and voluptuous volume control knob. So smooth, and so much in control when my fingers turn it unlike the smaller Jadis knob ( I actually could turn it using only my index finger).
It has 4 input selectors but at the moment I use only 1.
From the side:
I'm still in the process of burning in this line preamp, and occasionally I would switch to this from the Jadis pre to make sure that it is 'breathing'. And yes indeed it is. No critical listening so far. And no tube rolling as well. Honestly, I don't have the tubes yet.
And I want to hear its character after maybe 30 hours but what I noticed is that is sounds real smooth after 10-15 hours and has the 'house sound' of its phono brethren..
Little David is preparing his slingshot for a big kill it seems. Let's see....
