Hong Kong Morning Post

THE HONG KONG MORNING POST

Summer vacation is fast nearing an end and the family did a quick run to a favorite Asian destination of ours - Hong Kong. Visiting the city is best described in 3 words: EAT, SHOP, WALK. Our favorite hub is Causeway Bay, and this familiar sight upon landing:

SOGO and TIMES SQUARE:

For eating, my kids have developed a love affair with the 'baked thick pork chop with rice' at Cafe de Coral, which is like their version of our Jollibee:

On other meals we also marveled at their 'roastings':

Now a favorite of my teen son, Indian food at 'Curry in a Hurry'. It has all sorts of spicy platter combo plus our favorite snack - Roti Prata.

The shopping malls in Hong Kong are always awesome just to look at, we visited a relatively new one (to us) called Olympian City and it is a huge one. There are THREE parts of this incredible 'city' and due to fatigue and credit card limits, I decided to order a lockdown tour of only the second mall, called Olympic 2.

No violins in this shop, just clothes, clothes and more clothes.

A close encounter with a audio store in I-Square Mall along Nathan Road:

Burmester gears and Pass Labs amplifier.

Always a great experience, a must have experience for us to ride the Star Ferry to the Kowloon side and back to Central.

And lastly, an amusing sign outside an outlet store in the WTC Mall:

In other places, their way of phrasing things can be different than what we are used to. This one, I take it to mean that they have 'many imported brands included' inside the store.

Glad you like them, Doc. I'm walking distance from Wanchai but unfortunately, I am 'coralled' at night. :D

Hong Kong Morning Post 2013 Edition:

Welcome again to the morning paper that comes out once a year.

Below, a speaker-phile's dream. To have a wall of speakers in the house. And get that *#$@! TV out of
the "centerfill"!! Nakakasira ng 'imaging'! *^$#@*! :@ :D :D

Image

The view of the bay on a foggy day. Just like the sound of my Van den Hul D102 cables - Malabo.

Image

Impressive concrete suspension bridge linking the islands from the airport. Their version of the Golden Gate, only, this one may be made from silver wire - Siltech.

Image

A Live Penguin in Ocean Park - exhibiting incredible 'channel balance'.

Image

A lovable Panda in its man-made habitat, doing what is usually done in audio sessions - EATING!

Till next year's edition, hopefully. :)

bravo, thanks for sharing Phil. I read about HK all the time (probably the most among travel destinations) but never been there.

Good morning Ding. :)

HK is a place where I never will be tired of visiting, even if I had to go every month. :) Try it as a sidetrip when you come back here. A melting pot of east and west. Nice cool weather usually. Great value for money food. No communication problem. Lotsa audio, lotsa fast cars. Eternal shopping. And wives have a tendency to become IMMORTAL shoppers there.
