naka-hostage pa, bro. or probably it's more like i'm held hostage by it's majestic sound. nindot kaayo to the max talaga, bro. that thing is really something. grabe ang layering ng tunog. i never had an amp that my voigts like more. i really had to pressure Senator Villar, este, BenC to release it to me. kundi ko pa pinuntahan sa bahay, di talaga bibitawan.

bigay ko sayo sa WS party natin kay Ka Rene. that means you have to attend to have it. :D :D :D

For 2010, the latest upgrade on my TR2A3C, if we may call it an upgrade or say a combo, is its being permanently hooked-up with MR's TVC.

Never tested with any horn speakers, but sounds horny with my 95db/150watts/6ohms Roy Allison (RA Labs) speakers! Now, truly enjoying this baby! :D

Thanks Arnold!

This may be the least known, if not unheard of MR's creations since it came out in November 2006. At the least, the 2A3C had a taste of Sir Mandy's Lowther speakers when we visited him at his place sometime in March of last year. Both seemed to rhyme with each other. And in the later part of 2007, a US-based Pinoy audiophile spent a short vacation here in the Philippines and had the chance to audition this gear. After auditioning them, he's instantly being hit with the first, second or third note. He thought the amps was for sale and so, he offered to buy them. But despite the intercession of MR, i did not give in. So, before he went back to the States, he had MR designed a similar 2A3C for him. He waited and even extended his stay for few days 'til he flew back with a big heart! :D

Patrick,

Chuckie boy has my Trodt TJ 300bs on audition. Per his text, it was very good synergy with his horns. I will hear it for myself on Saturday. Perhaps you can also try out your 2A3s then. Trodt vs Trodt vs Trodt

Cheers,

I have a feeling it is going to be a dead heat. The speakers are horn and super efficient. ;) Perfect mate for the low output SE amps. ;) The 6C33Cs are less speaker sensitive even in the SE mode. Mine sounds best in the PSE mode driving the LSA 1 s.
Its set at 4 PM at Chucks place. Verdict will be announced :)

mga Sirs, hope your can point me to the right direction, I am looking for a SET to drive my Omni Duevel Planets 85db @ 4ohm sensitivity 10~50W.
Im interested to know which of Mang Rods creations will best suit my speakers? also are they made-to-order? at what price range? where can I audition his amps?

Reviews of the Planets says its best paired with SET with kt88, and I read SETs are low watt amps of 3~5W so can it drive my speakers???

This is my first audio setup and new to tubes.

brother brogger,

at 85db and 4ohms, i think your Planets are on the power hungry side. baka hindi kayanin ng SETs ang mga planeta mo.
i think you will have to give up on the idea that a 3-5W SET can drive them. what you probably will need is a push-pull amp.

Mang Rod has his 6146 amps with him, the ones that were featured at the last HiFi show. at 200 watts of juice, your
Duevels will most probably be satisfied with them. But dont take my work for it. As we die-hard Mang Rod fans will
advise, the best thing to do is still a honest-to-goodness audition of the gear you are considering or what he will recommend.
pay the man a visit and give him an appraisal of your system. who knows he may even agree to let you borrow the amps
to try out with your speakers.

timing na timing ang inquiry mo because i suspect he may soon embark on creating some new tubed power amp of
around 100W using his new pet tubes.

pls call Mang Rod at 522-1696 and arrange for a visit. you have nothing to lose but a whole lot to gain. who knows,
you may be able to get the 6146 demo amp for a good price, na-break in pa ;)
